Death is a luxury ððŠĶð
Maybe you've already heard of Flatbush Zombies. If not, you have seriously been sleeping on the hardest independent rap trio to ever exist. Hailing from a neighborhood called Flatbush in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The group consists of Zombie Juice, Erick Arc Elliott, and my personal favorite... MEECHY DARKO aka Meech, Durt Cobain, 2Cup Shakur, Fleezus Christ, among many other monikers.
Meech has quite possibly the most unique voice to ever spit on a track. The deep bellows and raspiness are what get your attention first. If you dive deeper into his lyrics, you'll understand that he is one of the best lyricists of all time, with no exaggeration.
I knew Meech was the truth all the way back in 2013 when I first began listening to Flatbush Zombies heavily. I've already broken down one of my favorite songs he has ever released "Death 2", check that post out here.
We are more than halfway through 2022 and Meechy Darko's long-awaited solo album titled Gothic Luxury has finally been released. Visit https://meechisdead.com/ for more info, merch, tour dates, and ways to listen. Also at the bottom of this post, I have the album embedded for you to stream on Spotify.

I mentioned that Flatbush Zombies have managed to always stay independent. The same goes for Meechy Darko with Gothic Luxury. By independent, I mean they haven't signed to a label to do all of their music without having to obey a master.
This is one of the biggest reasons that these guys have such a strong following. There are so many people in the world who are tired of being told what to do by superiors who do not have our best interest in mind. Sometimes it takes something darker to get rid of the darkness. Welcome the zombies into your listening catalog and maybe you'll finally see the light.
Meech's wordplay is unparalleled. Maybe its all of the psychedelics, but more likely this man was just born to rap. While on the road promoting the release of his album, Meech let loose a lethal freestyle on Funk Flex's show. It's a compilation of many of the album's songs on a random beat. Sure it was written beforehand so not a freestyle off the dome, but it's still pretty insane how he was able to perfectly execute this one. This guy has his finger on the trigger at all times.
It's mostly Meech on Gothic Luxury, but there are still some features. If you're plugged in enough to recognize these names, then you'll understand that Meech has the respect of some serious rap talent. Artists such as Freddie Gibbs, A-Trak, Black Though, Denzel Curry, Busta Rhymes, Kirk Knight, and Vita.
Even with these other artists on some of the songs, it is Meech that shines brightest with each and every track. You can find harmonious hooks, murderous cadence, and some of the most clever lyrics to be penned. This one goes deeper than you'd expect unless you already know Meech, then perhaps you are better prepared to survive the barrage of heavy damage.
To give a final review of Gothic Luxury, I'd say it truly is a 10/10 in terms of overall quality. This was certainly worth the long wait. I highly recommend that you listen to this album from start to finish, it's only 50 minutes total. I bet that you can at least manage to do that at some point before your demise.
