¡Hola amigos! Bienvenidos a mi blog. Debo decir que esta es mi segunda publicación en esta comunidad. La otra vez les hablé de mi amor por Taylor Swift y como no podía ser menos hoy también les hablaré de ella, ya que es un artista que amó con la vida.
Hello friends! Welcome to my blog. I must say that this is my second post in this community. The other time I told you about my love for Taylor Swift and as it could not be less today I will also tell you about her, since she is an artist who loved with life.
El viernes pasado estrenó una nueva canción llamada Carolina, que va a ser parte de la película Where The Crawdads Sing, basada en un libro, y estará pronto a estrenarse. Esta canción, como viene haciendo con todas las últimas producciones, la hizo junto a Aaron Dessner. Además sigue la temática y el género, folk - indie, de sus dos últimos álbumes: Folklore y Evermore.
Last Friday he released a new song called Carolina, which will be part of the movie Where The Crawdads Sing, based on a book, and will be released soon. This song, as he has been doing with all his latest productions, was made together with Aaron Dessner. It also follows the theme and genre, folk - indie, of his last two albums: Folklore and Evermore.
La canción trata sobre "la historia de una chica que siempre vivió afuera, mirando hacia adentro. Figurativa y literalmente. La yuxtaposición de su soledad e independencia. Su anhelo y su quietud. Su curiosidad y miedo, todo enredado. Su dulzura persistente... y la traición del mundo hacia ella", dijo Taylor Swift en su Instagram.
The song is about "the story of a girl who always lived on the outside, looking in. Figuratively and literally. The juxtaposition of her loneliness and independence. Her longing and her stillness. Her curiosity and fear, all tangled up. Her persisting gentleness… and the world’s betrayal of it", said Taylor Swift on her Instagram
Podemos ver que la letra de la canción está asociada a la protagonista del libro y a la que va a ser su cara en la adaptación. No leí este libro así que no tengo muchas referencias del personaje. En ella se usa la palabra Carolina, para lo que yo interpretó que es un secreto solo entre ella y un lugar en específico, o quizá se lo esté diciendo a ella misma "Carolina sabe", es un bonito pensamiento. Igualmente la letra también habla de arroyos, pinos, niebla y demás cosas, haciendo referencia al estado de Carolina del Norte.
We can see that the lyrics of the song are associated to the main character of the book and to the one that is going to be her face in the adaptation. I didn't read this book so I don't have many references of the character. In it the word Carolina is used, for what I interpreted to be a secret only between her and a specific place, or maybe she is saying it to herself "Carolina knows", it's a nice thought. Likewise the lyrics also talk about streams, pine trees, fog and other things, referring to the state of North Carolina.
Personalmente pienso que es una canción tranquila, con cierto grado de melancólica, pero la tranquilidad que transmite en su voz me encanta. Me gusta esta Taylor que se anima a hacer este tipo de canciones cero comerciales y sin ser pegadizas, pero con letras profundas y significativas.
Personally I think it's a quiet song, with a certain degree of melancholy, but I love the tranquility she transmits in her voice. I like this Taylor who is encouraged to make this kind of songs that are zero commercial and without being catchy, but with deep and meaningful lyrics.
A continuación les voy a compartir el lyric video de este tema, que también incluye imágenes de la película. En él podemos ver como la letra cobra sentido con lo que vemos y todo está envuelto en color sepia, como antiguo y nostálgico. Hay una atmósfera de misterio también. Todo el concepto que muestra me parece muy acertado para esta adaptación.
Below I am going to share with you the lyric video of this song, which also includes images from the movie. In it we can see how the lyrics make sense with what we see and everything is wrapped in sepia color, like old and nostalgic. There is an atmosphere of mystery as well. The whole concept it shows seems to me very successful for this adaptation.
Soy fan de ella hace 10 años, así que puedo ver su crecimiento, no solo en la manera de componer, sino en el tipo de historia que quiere compartirnos. Siento que se siente más libre de probar cosas nuevas o hacer lo que tenga ganas. Es una gran Songwriter y, sin dudas, la seguiré acompañando en este recorrido.
I've been a fan of hers for 10 years, so I can see her growth, not only in the way she composes, but in the kind of story she wants to share with us. I feel that she feels more free to try new things or do whatever she feels like doing. She is a great Songwriter and, without a doubt, I will continue to accompany her on this journey.
