Hello everyone. I'm not someone who usually complains, but I feel compelled to share some honest feedback.
This community hasn't been supporting professional musicians adequately. I often see amateur performers singing covers into a phone camera and receiving lots of engagement, while highly experienced professionals — with strong résumés, original high-quality productions, and participation in international live music festivals — get very little attention.
A curator should not be competing in contests within a professional music space. Instead, this community should focus on connecting professional musicians and DJs, and promoting high-level music education.
Speaking for myself, the only person who consistently engages with my content — which is 99% original music — is . I’m currently organizing the third edition of the Equilino Jazz Festival. Despite being a professional musician, I’ve taken the time to listen carefully to every submission from other professional bands who want to perform at the event. And as musical director, I’ve even chosen not to perform myself — to give space and full attention to the other artists.
Honestly, karaoke is the least of this community's problems.
