So I sat down to sort my next few releases out. I'd decided to do a few 'single' releases. Lead track, and maybe a 'b-side' of an older track that I wasn't likely to work up any more (I've got a few sat around that are good, but use plugins I no longer have access to etc. So I can do a bit of mastering, and use it to 'support' a release). I thought maybe 4 singles dripped out over the next couple of months or so.
Well, over the weekend I started to sift through my various music folders - Scratchpad, Work in Progress, Done. and I ended up with well over 20 tracks! Most of the lead tracks are quite recent, but there's a good number of tracks I'd just forgotten about that I sort of want to finish. A bunch of tracks with words and singing (-gasp!-), that may be a single EP. Just more >stuff< than I thought I had.
So, rather than planning 4 single releases stretched out over the next couple of months, I'm now looking at 5 EPs, probably 4 tracks each and perhaps releasing one a month until October! Ridiculous. In a good way.
Of course, I'll carry on writing, so maybe I will get these releases stacked up, then aim for an album before the end of the year. Having said that, there's a fair bit of finishing, mixing & mastering to be done. Covers to design - and I am *definitely* going to be doing a physical release (more on that later - quite excited about what I have planned), so there's that to sort out as well.
There is a moral to this - finish things. Don't let stuff stack up! I feel properly on the back foot now, as I do want to get all these tracks out, but I do feel like I have a mountain to climb.
But it's a nice problem to have, I guess. :)
So, my next diary entry will be about the first EP. I'll talk about what needs doing, and start to show you some of the tools I use to get my stuff ready, design covers etc. Given I have getting that out for the 1st June, I'd better get a shufty on!
The lead track for the first EP has actually been previewed a while back. Just to whet your appetite, here's the quick video I popped on YouTube...
