My latest gribblytune was released recently.
It's a song about the unrequited love between two flowers. I know. But you have to go where the muse leads you!
It came about from a note I made while in Regents Park a few years back. I was down there for one of Frank Turner's Lost Evenings festivals in Camden, and me and my lad had decided to have a little Sunday morning head clearing stroll.
Whilst wandering through the gardens in Regents Park, I noticed that the names of a couple of flowers on either side of the path sounded like people - so I scribbled a note down in my notebook.
Earlier this year, I had a nice little tune brewing, and I thought that it could do with some words. It's not often I add my own words and singing in my songs, so was stuck for inspiration. So I started flicking though my notebook, and came across the names. That got me thinking and in a few minutes, the story of Apple Jack and Rosemary Brock was written . 😄
Apple Jack saw her every day
Across the way
And when the wind moved him just as he needed
He’d chance her a wave
He hoped that one day, she’d notice his gaze
And turn round his way
But her face stayed fixed on the sun
Every Day
Rose Brock knew she had an admirer
Across the way
She often wished she could move a bit closer
But rooted she’d stay
She tried to turn & show him her face
In some way
But sunlight teases a different direction
Throughout the day
Apple Jack and Rosemary Brock
Only meters away
Will never meet, never grow with each other
Apart they must stay
They see the pathway that stretches between them
See the crowds on their way
And sometime people would stop and notice
And some walk away
If, after listening to it above, you want to add it to your library it is available in all the usual places.

One of the best ways you can help indie musicians like me - should you want to - is to share our music. Posting on Twitter and in Facebook groups is great, liking and sharing anywhere is super, and liking tunes, adding to playlists & following artists on Spotify, YouTube and other streaming services all help to feed the algorithm and raises the chance of our stuff being noticed and seen by others. It's all useful, and doesn't cost a penny! Thanks!
