Okay, these have been on my draft for a while, so it is time to let them out. I became interested in them, thanks to the romantic comedy "Marry Me," which starred the multi-talented Jennifer Lopez (who happens to be one of my favorite actresses) and the Colombian pop star Maluma. I had not known or heard these songs before watching the film, so they are a discovery for me.
Tune one is a duet between two of the main actors, Kat (Jennifer) and Bastian (Maluma).
Jennifer Lopez & Maluma - Marry Me
This song is the third single from the soundtrack album. I encountered two versions online - one a ballad and the other up-tempo. Both are great, but I liked the ballad more. I thought the duet was nice. Their voices blended so well.
Anyway, the second tune (below) is kind of my favorite among the three. J.Lo's sweet (sugary) vocals wowed me the first time I heard this version. A beautiful, passionate piece that brought out a side of the artist that I hadn't seen or felt in her other songs. Her music is mostly upbeat, catchy, and fun.
Jennifer Lopez - On My Way To You
This is quite different, and I thought this has that soothing effect on the soul. It's like a lullaby to the spirit, if there's such a thing. It's as if the song was made for the artist, and she did not disappoint, although the charts don't seem to agree, as it only peaked at #26 on the US Adult Pop Airplay. Oh well, people have different preferences.
I do like the slow piano riff in the beginning.
Anyway, onto the third tune:
Jennifer Lopez - After Love
Released in February 2022, the lyrics were co-written by the artist with three other songwriters (Dan Henig, Lisa Scinta, Kyle Moorman). Love after a heartbreak sort of thing. Some say it's too cliche and bores listeners, but it's an okay song for me. I like it!
So there goes my 3 Ts for the Three Tune Tuesday by Ablaze. Hope you enjoyed at least one of them. Cheers!
