The hubby was exhausted coming home from his father's place yesterday evening, so today has become our rest day (although not literally). It was all sunny, which allowed us to clear our laundry basket (well, he did, and I only helped put them in hangers). He trimmed the grass in the front yard and did the cooking afterward.
Me?
Lying in bed playing music. What can I say? It's one of those days when I can be really lazy and no one is complaining (thank goodness)! He has such a day too, and wouldn't hear a thing from me, so I guess that makes it even, lol!
Anyway, one of the songs that came from my random playlist was a beautiful power ballad from Miley Cyrus, who still reminds me of the Hannah Montana franchise. And since it's Tuesday, the song becomes my first recommended tune for the Three Tune Tuesday initiative by Ablaze. Here it is!
When I Look At You
This was the official soundtrack of the romantic film The Last Song in which Cyrus starred. This is one of my favorite tunes from her, along with "The Climb" from the HM TV series. I like it when she sings ballads because she tends to be tamed.
Oh gee! The word "tamed" reminded me of another song from her, which I liked the first time I heard it about fifteen years ago. Here's to the second tune:
Can't Be Tamed
This dance-pop song was released in 2010 as the lead single of her third studio album with the same title. The sultry lyrics talk about self-empowerment, breaking out, and being free.
Some fierce and edgy performance from the singer, different from her initial good girl image in the Hannah Montana series. Surprisingly, this peaked at number 15 on the Eurochart Hot 100 in 2010, becoming her best-charting single, surpassing her hit song, Party in the USA. Quite a nice shift, yeah?
And finally, the third and last tune for today is a pop song released five years ago from the singer's 7th studio album, Plastic Hearts. Coincidentally, this was also her final single with RCA Records, because she signed with a new label.
Angels Like You
I didn't know until today that this song reached number one in the Philippines, making Miley the first-ever female artist to reach the #1 spot on the country's official chart multiple times (twice). Hmmm, guess her fans here and around the world like this song a lot, as it also became the singer's biggest streaming hit, staying in the top 20 on Global Spotify for many weeks in 2023.
Interestingly, the song, according to Cyrus, is all about her fans. Oh well, maybe. Let me end it there before I say something else😅
Happy Tuesday!
