"Who is that?" I asked when I heard the hubby playing something pleasing to the ears the other day. "Neck lace," I thought he said. "Who, what?" I asked again with a grin.
"Nickless, as in N-I-C-K-L-E-S-S," he spelled slowly and patiently.😅 So we listened, then I got distracted and didn't pay attention to the other songs. Earlier today, I remembered and checked it out, and am now sharing 3 for the Three Tune Tuesday initiative by Ablaze.
The first below was the one played by the husband yesterday, and I liked it. A lot!
Nickless - Don't Stop The Car
He had other versions, but this is what I love the most.
A Brief Background of the Singer
Nickless is a singing drummer from Switzerland who began playing drums at the age of 7, learned the piano and guitar with a music coach at 8 years old, and experienced live performances in a band.
At 12, he became a drummer for Klirrfakto and won local talent competitions. At age 15, he worked as an assistant in a recording studio. Then four years later (2015), he decided to be a solo artist and released his debut single, "Waiting." The song became a hit (the most played song by a Swiss artist on the radio), receiving gold status, and winning the Swiss Music Award for Best Hit National in February 2016.
What a great start for such a young artist!
Back to the first tune above, it was a single released by Universal Music in 2024, and the video was a live performance at the Swiss Music Awards. I like the voice, the beats, rhythm, instrumentation, and everything. Patronizing much? Nah, I just loved it at first hearing, and I could have it on repeat.
And here's the second tune that I enjoyed too:
Nickless - To The Moon and Back
Released in 2020, this beautiful pop song showcases the singer's emotive and powerful vocals, as well as his heartfelt delivery and melodic phrasing that enhance the lyrics' emotional impact.
The song was well-received, reaching # 57 in Switzerland's Top 100 and #5 in Switzerland's Top 20 Likeable Songs after its release, and accordingly, it stayed in the weekly charts for 15 weeks. For some reason, he seemed to be popular in his home country and hadn't made it to the global arena. Nevertheless, he's quite good!
And here's the third for the day:
Nickless - Caroline
An '80s-inspired song with his powerful, intense delivery. Love the intro, the fun beats, and the musical arrangement. The blend of acoustic and electric instruments is quite nice.
Nickless reminds me of Backstreet Boys. Not only do they both feature a blend of pop and R influences, but they also share a tendency for catchy melodies and harmonized vocals.
So yeah, I'm keeping these and his other songs on my playlist for now. And that's all for this week's TTT edition. Cheers to a lovely day!
