Hello HIVE!
Today I present to you: "Lennon Kelly" - EP (2012)
(oh God! Nine years have already passed!)
History:
As I described in the first post about Lennon Kelly the birth of the band had not a professional background but rather a playful one. The first EP published recomposes the first steps of our musical life, a record with very light themes, playful and with the aim to entertain, even in satire as the song "I want the name". The recordings did not take place in a smooth way, in fact as an amateur band we had to take advantage of every opportunity that could be useful.
In fact, three of the tracks of the album ("L'altalena", "Venti3" and "A ruota libera") were recorded in an amateur studio in Sorrivoli (Roncofreddo), and gave shape to the band's first mini-demo.
Afterwards, thanks to a contest for young bands (in which we won the first prize) we gained the opportunity to record three more tracks ("Voglio il nome", "Sette nodi" and "Motivo per restare" plus the instrumental introduction of the future EP) at the Casadei studio in Bellaria-Igea Marina, a famous record company of ballroom and popular music from Romagna.
Once all our recordings were collected, we were welcomed by TamTam Studio in Cesena, which did the mastering, after which we published them on the IndieBox label (Brescia). I think this EP is still very good content, although the recordings are quite raw and not very mature.
The songs:
1# "Berthennin" - the title is taken from the elvish script from tolkien (the band has many inclinations to fantasy) and translates to "destined". it is an instrumental electric guitar intro with keyboard base and chorus.
2# "Sette Nodi" (Seven Knots) - is a banner of the band and the lyrics glorify the brotherhood of the band itself by portraying it in a pirate fashion. The fiddle turn that intersperses the song is the famous "Morrison's Jig", a classic of Irish tradition.
3# " A ruota libera" (Freewheeling) - this track has a more pop-punk influence, with a more emotional/personal theme against the shelves of life. This track features Macola (Vibronda) on flutes and backing vocals.
4# "Venti3" (Twentythree) - here we find perhaps the most unreleased vein of Lennon Kelly, this song oscillates between a pleasant beach pop and the most hilly folk sound, the lyrics themselves represent well these two realities in an imaginary of well-being of our beloved Romagna.
5# "Voglio il nome" (I want the name) - the sound can be summed up in one word: osteria. The inclination is towards punk and the lyrics are an amusing denunciation against Italian television. The synthesis? Better all together at the pub than in front of the television.
6# "Motivo per restare" (Reason to stay) - the single of this first EP, a mixture of ska and folk, a party from every point of view, the lyrics are about people, of which we would like a positive reaction to this life.
I leave you with the videoclip of the single " Motivo per restare", further down you can find the links to the lyrics, playlist, and itunes. Enjoy listening!
