In the 70s, there was a very interesting period for jazz because a new movement called "Jazz fusion" emerged where elements of jazz began to merge with other styles, such as rock, or even Latin music.
Becker Brothers and Weater Report were participants in this era and in this birth of jazz fusion. But it was not only in the 70s that jazz was fused with these other styles.
Since the birth of jazz or in the 40's, musicians like Mario Bauza, already fused jazz with Latin rhythms, or in the 50's, musicians like Antonio Carlos Jobin and Stan Getz, managed to fuse Brazilian folklore with American music and all this is considerable as a fusion.

En la década de los 70s, existió un periodo muy interesante para el jazz porque surge un nuevo movimiento llamado "Jazz fusión" donde se comenzó a fusionar elementos del jazz con otros estilos, como el rock, o inclusive música latina.
Becker Brothers y Weater Report fueron partícipes de esta época y de este nacimiento del jazz fusión. Pero no sólo fue en los años 70 donde se fusionó el jazz con estos otros estilos.
Desde el nacimiento del jazz o en los años 40's músicos como Mario bauza, ya fusiona el jazz con ritmos latinos, o en los 50's músicos como Antonio Carlos Jobin y Stan Getz, lograron fusionar el folclore brasilero con la música americana y todo esto es considerable como fusión.
Cabe destacar que tanto el jazz fusión como el latín jazz, tuvieron una cara diferente con la aparición en escena del Mr. CHICK COREA, cambio muchas cosas y eran cosas que no estaba mal, pero digamos que quiso crear un estilo dentro de este estilo que ya había sonado, comenzando así una transformación en la improvisación, de manera que se comenzó a sentir "libre" con más espacio y sin tanta atadura a la armonía.
Los arreglos de sus composiciones eran geniales, pero ya no eran sujetos a lo tradicional que eran los 32 compases, con una melodía súper estructurada. Este hombre dio más espacio y libertad.
Otros que revolucionaron el jazz fusión o que fusionaron de otra manera el jazz, fueron Michel camilo y Arturo Sandoval quienes adaptaron de manera extremista ambos estilos en su totalidad.
Queda claro que el JAZZ desde su nacimiento ha venido arrastrando con fusiones, la cuales expresan diversidad y libertad.
