June has felt like it has flown by in a heartbeat. All of a sudden it was summer and the longest day had arrived. In the Netherlands we could totally feel this as it was also the hottest day of the year up until now where with 32 degrees celsius it felt like a proper Dutch oven just being outside.
Together with the 750 year existence of Amsterdam which had closed off a highway to host a festival on the highway felt kind of weird. Like nothing else mattered than people having a good time and everyone and everything else could take a walk.
On the longest day the sun rises at 5.21 which means it dusk starts at like 4 AM and the sun sets at 22.00 which means it is light until like 23.00. That is some serious amount of light to party in on a day like that right!
I didn't head out to Amsterdam because this all sounded a bit too mass as there were 280.000 tickets to be sold.
I decided to head out to the fete de la musique music festival in the city of Eindhoven which was held behind the buildings but in the greens near the water. But that was only until after the sun was already out of its full power. Before that it was way too hot to even hit the bicycle to whatever kind of reason.
Music music music
All around the world summer solstice als means that it is time for the Fête de la musique festival. This is a festival which is hosted all around the world where small music initiatives get a stage for their music.
Also in a lot of cities this is held as spontaneous stages where street musicians have a moment to get out and play and bring people together.
This was also the case in the city of Eindhoven where a friend of a friend had to play with his reggae band. Sounded like a good reason to take a look and see what was going on.
And it was warm, and there were people and drinks were flowing of course also because of the hot temperatures. But the most cool thing was that people were getting together. The vibe was good and more people were taking a dance than I had expected.
I love these kind of initiatives where between the city green small stages are set up, there is no entrance fee and just literally everyone has the chance and opportunity to step outside and enjoy some good vibes. That is how music should be in every city in the summer.
Welcoming for everyone and free for everyone because of some enthusiasts who want it out there. I love summer and these kinds of things!
