It has been like a month now after the superbowl where Rihanna was the half time act sepreme where so much was said about. Yes, she showed her belly as an announcement that she was pregnant to the world for the first time. Yes, she was hated for the worst case of lipsinging in the history over the superbowl and wasn't even trying. Yes, she didn't invite any supporting acts on stage which the last couple of artists all did, so this was a bit different.

But this is all about all of the side things. Let's go back to the music! Yes, more maninstream than I would normally listen to, but especially in spring time on the bike...Why not some Rihanna?
Pon the replay
A classic that wasn't played at the superbowl for no good reason but damn this is one of the songs dating from 2005 already which was literally played every week in the bar we would always used to hang out.
And whenever that song started to play, that always felt like the signal where everyone put their drink away, and headed to the dancefloor. Ready, get set. Pon the replay, and GOOO. This song never was a big one in the hitlists in Holland, but it is widely remembered and still played which is a good thing.
Only girl in the world
Yes a different video from Rihanna herself, but the song remains the same. 'Only girl in the world' has been killed by the radiostation in Holland where they went way too far playing the same song over and over. And this video by Keenan Cahill is exactly how I literally always think about when I hear this song. This is in the pre tiktok and instagram time where there was this kid who went all in on lipsinging on this song.
Just watch it, and you can never unsee this video when listening to this song again.
All of the Lights
Actually coming from the 'My beautiful dark twisted fantasy' album from Kanye West but with a big role in there for Rihanna I really love this song, especially when you listen the intro from the same album before it on the piano and violin which just kick starts this song and actually enhances it.
I don't think this was a big hit in the Netherlands which is actually a pity, because it deserved way more than it received from here. Not a big fan of the video though
Stay
Coming to the softer side of Rihanna these are my favorites which just have a lot more feeling in there. Espcially after the relationship with Beat-em-up-scotty Chris Brown this one feels different don't you think? And what about this next one?
Love on the Brain
Why didn't this song get more credits in there actually? On this original it feels a lot like a 70s soul song, and I also really like it in the remix as a super positive summer vibe.
Loads of different styles were presented by Rihanna over the last couple of years. I know what I will be listening on the bike this week!
