Every day, I think about how to give a new nuance to Zulian gaita music, listening to it and analyzing it at length..

Among all that baggage of themes, music, and nuances, I have determined something: you can listen to gaita music all year round.

This rich Venezuelan musical genre has many impressive and catchy themes that make it the queen mother of Venezuelan folklore. Almost 70% of its repertoire consists of songs that do not refer to Christmas, and as happens in many traditional musical evolutionary processes, everything changes constantly, forgive the redundancy.

So we are starting 2026 with this new section that I have titled “All Year Round,” closing the cycle of the 60s and 70s when gaita was played from October to December, and the 80s and 90s when it was played from July to December. Today we listen to it ALL YEAR ROUND.

That's why I've invited my friend Juaquin to play this delightful song by Gaiteros de Pillopo entitled No Mojo Pero Empapo, sung and composed by the great Luis Escaray, a visionary of the gaita.
