Hello there!
My name is Simon.
I've been playing since I was a kid.
I always been pretty shy so I never really had the OUMPFH to go all in and pursue music professionally. However, music is something I always done for fun and my own sake anyway and now I feel like it's about time to share.
This is a cover of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here I recorded last week. I didn't plan
this but it's kind of fitting since it was the first song I played for an audience. It was on my grandfathers funeral. He was totally awesome by the way. Loving, kind, funny, the list goes on. That was almost 15 years ago. Time flies.
Back then what I focused on with the lyrics was obviously Wish You Were Here.
What I didn't knew then was that the song is about Pink Floyd's former lead singer Syd Barret. From what I can recall on the top of my head he got lost in a haze of tripping on acid, probably other stuff too. He was alive at the time it was written but the Syd they knew was gone. It's a sad story and it's out there if you wanna know more or if someone here want to elaborate, feel free to do so. There is alot of depth to this song and it's one of those timeless classics imho.
Anyway, I stumbled upon Hive the other week and I feel like this is the place to be.
My intention was to put it up on 3speak but it seems to be down at the moment so I set up a trap on YouTube. Doing it this way is pretty nice though and you get a little background as well.
I have some of my own tunes in the pipeline that will come eventually. For now I'm going to share some covers and start making some noise. I hope the cringe-level is bearable ;)
Thank you for your time!
