Hello music lovers
In today's post, I am going to share with you the process of recording this video. I had just one hour in my schedule to choose, practice, and record the piece. Usually, it takes lot more time to practice a new piece, at least some days in advance to prepare well. It is a study, Andante cantabile, number 8 from Thirty Progressive Studies op.46. The composer is Stephen Heller, a Hungarian pianist, and teacher who lived from 1813 to 1888. His music was an influence for later Romantic composers.
It was the first-ever time I played this piece and listened to it. First I checked the melody in the left hand, then the broken chords in the right hand, with the upper melody line. I had one issue, some hidden notes in the accompaniment that changes the harmony, so the first few times I had to play slower that measure and pay more attention to those notes.
I had to check a few jumps in the left hand on the second page, the dynamics, phrasings... and practice in a faster tempo as well. Finally, the andante cantabile mark guided me to perform for the video it in this tempo, trying to express as much possible the upper melody line. Hope that this nice romantic style piece will bring you pleasure while listening to it.
