El día de hoy quiero recomendarles un cantante y compositor conocido en Estados Unidos y Asia con el nombre de Dpr Ian | Christian Yu, este cantante lo conocí por mi hermana a quien le encantó su música que habla de temas tanto muy personales como problemas en las relaciones, problemas existenciales, donde el mismo Ian tiene varias personalidades y esto va arraigado a su diagnóstico de salud mental que es la bipolaridad y personalidad múltiple. Me causó mucha intriga ver su trabajo musical y conocer más acerca de su historia.

Today I want to recommend a singer and songwriter known in the United States and Asia by the name of Dpr Ian | Christian Yu, this singer I met him through my sister who loved his music that speaks of both very personal issues such as relationship problems, existential problems, where Ian himself has several personalities and this is rooted in his mental health diagnosis which is bipolar and multiple personality. I was very intrigued to see his musical work and learn more about his story.
Ian es un cantante con ascendencia Coreana pero creció en Australia por lo que tiene una combinación de ambas culturas que hace que sea aún más magnífico al momento de crear sus canciones, además de que se siente como un libro abierto y podemos ver qué en muchas de ellas se encuentra luchando con sus propios demonios internos y con la idea de querer ser alguien diferente. Tal vez puedes verlo como un joven que tiene una personalidad muy abierta y extrovertida, pero tiene un pasado del cual ha hablado sobre sus problemas con las autolesiones y las alteraciones de sus emociones en muchas oportunidades durante toda su vida, esto forma parte de los trastornos con los cuales fue diagnósticado.
Ian is a singer of Korean descent but grew up in Australia so he has a combination of both cultures which makes him even more magnificent when creating his songs, plus he feels like an open book and we can see that in many of them he is struggling with his own inner demons and the idea of wanting to be someone different. Maybe you can see him as a young man who has a very open and outgoing personality, but he has a past of which he has talked about his problems with self-harm and alterations of his emotions on many occasions throughout his life, this is part of the disorders with which he was diagnosed.
Pero más allá de eso tiene una forma muy creativa de escribir sus canciones y de conectar a través de sus videos musicales de una forma única, puedes sentirte como si estuvieras viendo una película de mundos paralelos y a la vez un poco desorientado a la hora de verlo en los videoclips donde pone mucho de su amor por la música y demuestra que los artistas también pueden demostrar su vulnerabilidad y convertir esto en una fortaleza y esto lo ha ayudado también a sentirse mejor consigo mismo, al punto en que siento que encontró su lugar siendo compositor y cantante.

Sus canciones van desde ritmos Pop con R&B y estos géneros son de mis preferidos musicalmente hablando, además tiene un repertorio de canciones muy interesantes y algunas bastante abiertas sobre las propias situaciones que ha vivido tanto en su vida personal como amorosa. Me gusta la manera en la que se desenvuelve en el escenario, tiene un estilo muy rockero con muchos tatuajes en su cuerpo que plasman parte de las cosas que más ama y es una de las cosas que lo hacen ver diferente y misterioso, tanto como las otras personalidades que demuestra en diferentes canciones. Hay varias canciones que me encantan y en este post me gustaría hablar un poco sobre ellas.
His songs range from Pop rhythms to R&B and these genres are some of my favorites musically speaking, he also has a repertoire of very interesting songs and some quite open about his own situations that he has lived both in his personal and love life. I like the way he performs on stage, he has a very rock style with many tattoos on his body that show part of the things he loves the most and it is one of the things that make him look different and mysterious, as much as the other personalities he shows in different songs. There are several songs that I love and in this post I would like to talk a little bit about them.
La primera es Dope Lovers que es una canción que habla de una relación bastante tóxica donde se tiende a terminar y volver una y otra vez porque es casi como una adicción esta dinámica entre la relación. La voz es mucho más suave en esta canción y aunque tiene una letra que puede ser cuestionable porque se siente como si Ian no supiera realmente lo que quiere, al final demuestra que en las relaciones pueden ocurrir tantos altibajos que van deteriorando lo que alguna vez se sintió como una conexión real y profunda. Me encanta y es de mis favoritas, el ritmo es suave y me gusta cuando la interpreta en vivo porque lo hace de manera apasionada.
The first is Dope Lovers which is a song that talks about a fairly toxic relationship where you tend to end it and come back again and again because it is almost like an addiction this dynamic between the relationship. The vocals are much softer in this song and although it has lyrics that can be questionable because it feels like Ian doesn't really know what he wants, in the end it shows that so many ups and downs can happen in relationships that keep deteriorating what once felt like a real and deep connection. I love it and it's one of my favorites, the beat is smooth and I like it when he performs it live because he does it in a passionate way.
Nerves es otra de las canciones que me han gustado de su repertorio, es una canción que cuenta el deseo de haber podido salvar una relación que se terminó pero que realmente deseaba que las cosas hubieran sido diferentes. Es un ciclo en el que Ian se da cuenta de que tenía algo que valía la pena y que por sus propios problemas emocionales no pudo saber apreciar a esa persona. Tiene un vídeoclip también muy artístico como la mayoría de sus canciones, es algo que me gusta de Ian, puede crear videos musicales en los que te sientes como si vieras una película de ciencia ficción.
Nerves is another song that I liked in his repertoire, it is a song that tells the story of wishing he could have saved a relationship that ended but he really wished things could have been different. It's a cycle in which Ian realizes that he had something worthwhile and that because of his own emotional problems he couldn't appreciate that person. It also has a very artistic music video like most of his songs, that's something I like about Ian, he can create music videos where you feel like you're watching a sci-fi movie.
También está Don't Go Insane, ya el nombre dice bastante, es una canción que describe el sufrimiento de una persona que vive en una lucha interna por querer resurgir del dolor pero a la vez siempre volver al bucle de que las cosas tal vez no van a mejorar. Ian habla mucho de temas que van hacia la salud mental, de las cosas que pocos se atreven a hablar ya que se siente como una vergüenza aceptar que eres vulnerable y que puedes perderte en algunas ocasiones pero eso no te hace menos que el resto.
There is also Don't Go Insane, the name says enough, it is a song that describes the suffering of a person who lives in an internal struggle of wanting to rise from the pain but at the same time always returning to the loop that things may not get better. Ian talks a lot about issues that go towards mental health, about things that few dare to talk about because it feels like an embarrassment to accept that you are vulnerable and that you can lose yourself at times but that doesn't make you less than the rest.
Me gustan muchas cosas de Ian, desde su estilo musical, su forma de actuar en el escenario cuando canta en vivo, su manera de tomar cada situación o emoción que sea difícil de procesar y convertirlo en una canción, en arte que al final del día es lo único que realmente vale la pena de entre tanta oscuridad. Los videos musicales están increíbles y espero puedan buscarlos para que se den una idea de lo que es su música y su forma de expresarse en ella. Tiene mucho potencial como cantante y aunque es más australiano que coreano, lleva en la sangre desde muy joven el amor por el arte, aunque como dato: el no sabía cantar, solo sabía bailar y estuvo en clases de canto para poder dedicarse a la música. Es un cantante increíble que espero pueda tener más visibilidad porque tiene mucha creatividad para crear canciones.
I love so many things about Ian, from his musical style, his way of performing on stage when he sings live, his way of taking every situation or emotion that is hard to process and turning it into a song, into art which at the end of the day is the only thing that is really worthwhile out of so much darkness. The music videos are amazing and I hope you can look them up to get an idea of what her music is about and the way she expresses herself in it. He has a lot of potential as a singer and although he is more Australian than Korean, he has a love for art in his blood from a very young age, although as a fact: he didn't know how to sing, he only knew how to dance and he took singing lessons to be able to dedicate himself to music. He is an amazing singer that I hope he can have more visibility because he has a lot of creativity to create songs.
