š¶ Hello Hive! Iām Ndah Anuoluwapo Oluwabusola ā A Passionate Musicologist from Nigeria š¶
My name is Ndah Anuoluwapo Oluwabusola, and I proudly hail from Niger State, Nigeria. I am a passionate and evolving musicologist, driven by a lifelong love for music that began at a very young age.
My musical journey was nurtured by the influence of my mother, a choir director whose leadership and devotion to music deeply inspired me. Watching her conduct choirs and lead worship sessions sparked something profound within me, and soon, I found myself following in her footstepsāsinging in church choirs, school performances, and community gatherings.
šæ The Genesis of My Musical Journey
I began with Gospel music, the foundation that shaped my sense of melody, harmony, and spirituality. Over time, I explored various genres, developing an appreciation for diverse musical styles. Among all, Afrobeats captured my heart the most. Its infectious rhythm, cultural vibrance, and expressive energy reflect the soul of Africa and resonate deeply with my identity as a Nigerian musician.
To strengthen my craft, I attended a music school, where I received training in classical music, sight singing, and piano performance. Learning to both sing and play the piano expanded my musical expression, allowing me to perform with greater confidence and emotional depth.
š Academic and Professional Growth
I am currently pursuing a degree in Music at the University of Ibadan, one of Nigeriaās leading institutions. This academic journey has been transformative, exposing me to core areas such as music theory, ethnomusicology, African music, voice training, and music education. These experiences have refined my understanding of music as both an art and a science, shaping me into a more complete performer, scholar, and researcher.
Beyond academics, I have been privileged to collaborate on several musical projects. I featured on āGbeduā by Blessing Imuse, and have contributed as a backup singer and studio vocalist for numerous songs and soundtracks. Each collaboration has strengthened my professionalism, creativity, and ability to blend with other talented artists.
šŖ My Vision as a Musicologist
As a musicologist, I am particularly passionate about the preservation and promotion of indigenous Nigerian music. I believe that music is far more than soundāit is a spiritual language, a cultural heritage, and a powerful educational tool. My goal is to document traditional music styles, interpret their meanings, and creatively reimagine them for modern audiences. Through research, performance, and teaching, I hope to inspire the next generation to value and sustain our musical heritage.
š” Personality and Passion
In personality, I find myself somewhere between an introvert and an extrovert. I enjoy social interactions, collaborations, and sharing musical ideas, but I also cherish my quiet, reflective momentsāthose times spent rehearsing, composing, or simply communing with my piano.
I am passionate, focused, and teachable. I believe deeply in teamwork and collective growthāwhen musicians learn, create, and rise together, the entire art form is elevated. One of my biggest dreams is to establish a music academy that blends African traditional elements with global musical standards, serving as a bridge between heritage and innovation.
šµ What Music Means to Me
For me, music is more than a passionāit is a calling. Itās the channel through which I express my faith, emotions, creativity, and identity. Every note I sing, every chord I play, carries a piece of my journey and my belief that music has the power to heal, unite, and transform.
I am grateful for how far Iāve come, proud of the experiences that have shaped me, and optimistic about the road ahead. Hive feels like the perfect community to share my voice, connect with like-minded creatives, and continue this beautiful journey of sound and discovery.
Thank you for welcoming me ā I look forward to growing, learning, and making music with this inspiring community! š¶š«
