Let's take things down a notch and chill the "f" out with one of the few tunes I made that wasn't drum & bass! I've got a two part series for you with the follow-up coming tomorrow but let's go for the downtempo side of things today.
Back in 2012 was like a nebula of creativity from me. Definitely procrastinating at Uni as I should have been in the labs but instead I was in a different kind of lab... my music studio haha!
Anyway, a label I was part of at the time brought me into contact with a producer called BLINDSTATE who created this apocalyptic spacey drum & bass track:

I vaguely remember asking him if I could remix it after hearing the opening sequence as it reminded me a little bit of a tune I really liked at the time called When You Were Mine by Hosta. In any case, the vocals and that bassline were sumptuous and couldn't resist having a go at remixing.
As I sat down at the studio, I mean, music lab (har har har), this part 1 remix took on a life of its own and somehow ended up going on a chilled out downtempo beat here. It seemed right in a way! The original was strangely chilled with the minimal vibes so I went minimal too and at half the speed!
I just decided to let this take its course and it seemed to turn out alright. Those who were following me at the time were used to the high energy drum & bass tunes I was creating but this one might have caught them off guard - I think they liked it though judging by the comments that came in!
There are a few more chilled out tracks that I never got around to finishing, maybe in 2022 if I can find more time or go part time with work, I'll be able to go back through everything and polish them, then share them with you!
In the meantime, enjoy listening to the end of the world, part 1!
