Drum & Space
One of my favourite combinations of Drum & Bass and thoughts of traveling through space came together with this collaborative EP and remix I did of DaveyHub's Stargazing track. I've always had a fascination with how things work beyond our own planet (although there's plenty to learn and understand about complex life on Earth), so much so that I was hoping to get back in to University and research on Space Science projects before coronavirus came along and basically wiped all those plans out - stick to the regular job for the time being!
Nonetheless, I still have a few books from Professor Brian Cox to get through - "Wonders of the Solar System" and "Human Universe" - that will keep me very much entertained for a while given they are about 400 pages a piece! I guess the appeal is all about exploration and the vast expanse of the whole Universe that we don't yet know about, it allows the imagination to run wild and think of far away worlds - in a way, another form of "escape"!
And so, my Dark Matter remix of Stargazing was a chance for my imagination to go in to space in Drum & Bass form with thanks to DaveyHub for asking me to remix it. It's out now on the Electronic Music Alliance label with another remix from Paul Infrasonic too.
BBC Introducing
We managed to get our Radio Edit, which combined the original from Davey and my remix, aired on BBC Introducing last year 4 times on DaveyHub's local BBC Introducing station and it got picked up by a bigger regional station which was amazing really in what was known as "Stargazing Month" in June 2019! It was so surreal to hear it on the BBC... who knows if that will happen again with future releases, fingers crossed hey!
