Death Cab For Cutie ist laut last.fm die von mir meistgehörte Band der letzten 10 Jahre. Zurecht. Zwischen dem ganzen Punkgeschrammel und Hipgehoppe brauch ich auch mal Musik zum Abschalten und Genießen. Und genau das stellen DCFC für mich dar. Schöne, melodiöse Musik, die einen stilsicher durch den Sonntag bringt.

Death Cab For Cutie is according to last.fm my most listened band of the last 10 years. Rightly so. Between all the punk and hip hop I also need music to switch off and enjoy. And that's exactly what DCFC is for me. Beautiful, melodic music that gets you through Sunday in style.
Das neueste Album „Kintsugi“, benannt nach einer japanischen Reperaturmethode für Keramik, ist das letzte Album, bei dem das langjährige Bandmitglied Chris Walla mitgearbeitet hat. Dieser hat mittlerweile die Band verlassen.
The latest album "Kintsugi", named after a Japanese repair method for ceramics, is the last album on which longtime band member Chris Walla worked. He has left the band in the meantime.
Soundtechnisch ist „Kintsugi“ äußerst vielfältig, aufgeräumt. Während „The Ghost Of Beverly Drive“ und „Good Help“ die tanzbaren Uptempo Songs markieren, so laden „You’ve Haunted Me All My Life“ und „Everything’s A Ceiling“ eher zum Schunkeln ein. Bei „Hold No Guns“ sind lediglich Ben Gibbard´s zerbrechliche Stimme und seine Akustikgitarre zu hören. Schön. Dürfte für jeden was dabei sein.
Sound-wise, "Kintsugi" is extremely diverse, tidy. While "The Ghost Of Beverly Drive" and "Good Help" mark the danceable uptempo songs, "You've Haunted Me All My Life" and "Everything's A Ceiling" rather invite to sway. "Hold No Guns" features only Ben Gibbard's fragile voice and his acoustic guitar. Nice. Should be something for everyone.
Das Album kommt in einem teilweise mit Gold verzierten weißen Gatefold Cover und 2 180g LPs. Die Erste besteht aus goldfarbenen (natürlich!) Vinyl und die Zweite wurde einseitig auf weißem (ach?!) Vinyl gepresst.
Außerdem liegt das komplette Album noch auf CD mit bei. Gute Sache, wobei ich einen Downloadcode bevorzuge, da mein Laptop kein CD-Laufwerk zu rippen besitzt. Egal, gut fürs Auto.
The album comes in a partially gold decorated white gatefold cover and 2 180g LP's. The first consists of gold-colored (of course!) Vinyl and the second was pressed on one side on white (oh?!) Vinyl.
In addition, the complete album is also included on CD. Good thing, though I prefer a download code since my laptop doesn't have a CD drive to rip. Anyway, good for the car.
Nicht das beste DCFC Album, aber ein sehr gutes. Es zündet, wie viele andere DCFC Platten auch, erst nach dem 2. oder 3. Durchgang.
Not the best DCFC album, but a very good one. It kicks, like many other DCFC records, only after the 2nd or 3rd pass.
