Hello Hive friends. I feel that I've been very fortunate in my life in many respects but the most fortunate thing for me was being able to become a pop and rock choir leader. I run four choirs who are collectively called 'Alive and Singing'. I regularly write and publish new arrangements of rock and pop music specifically to suit my choirs. My Wednesday night choir has no Tenors and my Thursday night choir, no Basses. This means I have to make the arrangements very flexible by ensuring that the melody line is either in the Alto or Soprano part even if it is also in the Tenor or Bass part. This makes the arrangements much more tricky to do. In England it is a problem in many choirs, that there just aren't enough men.
This song 'Take Me Home Country Roads' is one the choir chose democratically. I think it's important that the choir members have their say on repertoire choices. I have to be honest that I'm not really a Country and Western fan but I hope I did this old classic some justice.
