back with another #fiveforfriday list, sorry I've been MIA for a couple weeks😓😓😓
this week we're taking a trip down memory lane to re-live the human beat box craze of the eighties and one champion from the 90s
doug e fresh
legendary old schooler... he even plays the harmonica while beat boxing! definitely peep the get fresh crew if you are unfamiliar with that classic 80s material
biz markie
probably the most recognizable name on this list. everyone knows at least one of his hits...or has seen him appear on yo gabba gabba or whatever children's show
fat boys
"human beat box"
great live performance of an early fat boys classic from when they were still called the disco three-right before they switched their name for what i would speculate is marketing purposes. these guys had a (not so good) movie called disorderlies and were heavily promoted only to basically fizzle out. they had some good ones though, including a song featuring freddie krueger...how very eighties. rest in peace to buffy! true legend.
rahzel
i saw this guy live in concert back around 99 or 2000 he was AMAZING. i think he was originally in the roots but left because he was so badass. the godfather of noise! here's a great bit where he sings and beatboxes at the same time. also highly recommend his wu tang routine
here's a cool clip from some tv show battle from 1986, you can see them doing whatever tricks it takes to win... the one guy even does a handstand while beat boxing. pretty nice!
here's a bonus for fun- its the hidden track from the rahzel make the music 2000 album where he and kenny muhammad take on dj skribble and slinky in a "man vs machine" battle. always loved the James Brown part, so funny
thanks for checking this out
