Yo estoy más que bien porque hoy les tengo una sorpresa: ¡Un cover de una canción que cantaba desde que era pequeño junto a mi papá y mi abuelo! Además, tuve la oportunidad de tocarla con la orquesta de un maestro genial que me brindó su apoyo durante mis años universitarios. El maestro era cubano, así que no podía faltar en su repertorio un clásico del son como "Bilongo" o "La negra Tomasa". 🎶 Según lo que he leído en internet, esta canción fue compuesta por Guillermo Rodríguez Fiffe en 1937 y aparentemente está basada en una historia real. Resulta que La Negra Tomasa existió de verdad y se dice que era una mujer increíblemente hermosa y de gran corazón. En la Cuba del siglo XVIII, se hizo famosa porque, presumiblemente, era una esclava a la que sus dueños le dejaron tierras en herencia. Aprovechando esa oportunidad, ella ayudaba a todos los que podía. Además, era adepta al espiritismo y los seguidores de esa religión aseguran que aún hoy en día realiza milagros.

Hay un montón de versiones de este tema, incluso se dice que mas de cien, entre los artistas mas famosos que la interpretaron encontramos: Tito Rodríguez, Eddie Palmieri, Compay Segundo, Buena Vista Social Club, Son Varadero, la banda de rock mexicana Caifanes, Richard Bona y el que personalmente es mi favorito, Ismael Rivera. No hay ninguna información en internet 100% oficial y fiable sobre la historia de la negra tomaza, tantos años después es mas como una leyenda así que tomen con discreción lo que digo en el post.
