Part 2
Part 3
#1. Give It To Me - Sistar
The first song randomly chosen was Give It To Me by Sistar. Sistar was one of the older kpop girl groups that aren't active anymore but they were fairly popular during their time. I cannot say it enough but Korean music is most of the time super wholesome usually either emo, happy or related to love. This song is obviously related to love and the it in the title is referring to love so get your mind out of the gutter.
The song is about a girl that is possibly waiting for the guy to make a move. We can see in the English translated lyrics that I quoted below that this girl wants to get married. She's most likely waiting for the guy to propose but he's taking his sweet time. Then again in the lyrics there's a lot of give it to me lyrics so maybe actually all she wants is the guy to love her back. This is what I think based on the lyrics but I could be wrong.
Will I even get married before I turn thirty? My heart is hurt from only giving love, what do I do?
My heart hurts even at the persistent sound of rain
I’m still young and soft-hearted Innocent and soft-hearted, I have a lot of tears"

#2. Metronome - Jay Park feat Simon D. (전효성)
The second song chosen was Metronome by Jay Park. I remember listening this song in Highschool. My friend Brian who was half Korean and half German introduced this song to me when were going to one of our soccer matches. I like Jay Park's songs and for those that don't know he's also a judge on Asia's Got Talent. This song is totally 180 degrees from the first song. Even though it's also about love it's kind of like in a rap kind of feel. I tried to find a music video that added English subs and it just happened that this was the only one which also had German subs. I want to share the music videos because I think they are nice and Korean music videos usually put a fair amount of effort in these most of the time.
The song is about a relationship between a guy and a girl. They seem to always not be on the same page. I feel like this does happen quite frequently nowadays. The relationships aren't balanced and that's why people break up quite fast. It's like if someone does the cooking, the other should do the dishes kind of feeling. This also could be a lack of communication where one person communicates but the other doesn't. That's why the song is called metronome because the guy in the story wishes that the girl was on the same page with him. The metronome mentioned in the lyrics which I quoted below is not literally needing a metronome but more towards finding a middle ground to find the compromise and balance in the relationship. This is what I think but I could be wrong.
Baby we need a Metronome
When you’re fast, I’m slow
We’re off tempo baby
Metronome, we’re not in sync,
why are we always off baby?

#3. Rocking - Teen Top
Finally, the last song chosen was Rocking by Teen Top. This song is actually known as No Joke as well. This group is not active anymore. I want to say it's quite interesting the song because it's super dancy upbeat and then the lyrics are split between being negative and positive. I also thought that this is actually a great song to end and I hope you all have a great rest of the week.
The song is split into two parts. I think the first part is about the group. It's about how they are going to keep producing great music and that they're not a joke.
TEEN TOP we gonna rock it1
drop it top it
hey don’t stop it pop it (x4)
It’s no joke, it’s no joke,
it’s no joke
We are really no joke

Then the second part is about a guy breaking up with a girl. They always have fights but in the end up they get back together. It just seems like a back and forth thing that does happen to even relationships in real life. It's either this or they could be talking about their fans maybe? Maybe they have some haters that don't like some of their songs but then they will still come back and listen to newer songs that they like. I'm not sure because the meaning of this song is so random since the two parts in the lyrics didn't make sense together.
I’m miserable,
I broke up with her today
This time, it feels somewhat different
She was so good, not losing
a single word to me
I fell for that charm and only
I am this miserable
I’m sick of fighting now,
everyone around me tells me
That I’m gonna end up dating
her again (I’m not joking) You and I,
we’re crazy, we’re gonna see each other
tomorrow anyway so why are you doing this?
