Here's some more percussion for #sitarsaturday
Here's is what is known as Konnakol aka drum language. You use your hands to clap out the odd timing of the metronome then make a few different drum words to represent different types of hits on the drum. It's a good way to kind of sketch out the rhythm before playing it on the actual drum. Here in the west we call it beat boxing lol.
Sadly I couldn't find any examples of Konnakol with sitar playing at the same time. This is the best I could find lol. A guy wiping down a sitar while doing Konnakol lol. I know I saw Anoushka Shankar play sitar live with her drummer doing Konnakol, but I couldn't find any video of it.
Here is a Spanish guy remixing a fast Konnakol video with his guitar metal. Its a good thing the Konnakol singers were in perfect timing so he could make some fast metal riffs over it.
