Hello, music community! It's been a long time since I last posted in this community. Well, I just want to share an awesome music or genre of music that I've been listening to for quite some time now.
Lately, I felt fascinated listening to medieval or bard music versions of various songs.

According to what I read online, the Medieval Period or Middle Ages, is a period in Europe which began in 5th century until the 15th century. Now few weeks ago, a video appeared on my recommended videos on Youtube while I was watching Babymetal videos. It was a Medieval version of the Attack on Titan anime first opening song, Guren no Yumiya.
Instantly, liking and approving of this style of music, I also watched its version for the 2nd opening song of Attack on Titan, Shinzou wo Sasageyo!
By the way, the final season of Attack on Titan began airing recently. I still haven't watched the third season so I still can't watch it, though I already read some chapters from the manga a few years back which is now part of the final season. :)
And then I just found myself clicking on the next recommended videos. I first listened to the anime songs in Medieval version until I went on to listening to non-anime songs.
One that I really like are the Medieval covers for Shakira's songs. It was so fun to listen to! Her songs sounded very festive on this version. I can imagine people gathering at night at the tavern laughing, dancing, wearing huge smiles on their faces. Her songs fit bard version so well. 😂
Ed Sheeran's Shape of You is also good to listen to. And it's a lot of fun and laughter browsing through the comments section of this video. Actually, reading the comments section of each medieval cover video just gives me a lot of chuckle. People using old English and pretending they are on that era is hilarious.
Although I find this version of Shape of You better.
Another two that I like listening to are the versions for Moves Like Jagger and Havana. Lord Jagger and Lady Camila! Lol. I have very little knowledge about the Medieval Period and can barely speak old English although I enjoy the music and the jokes on the comments section of these videos.
Oh, you may also want to check out a cover of the song Despacito. I am not a fan of the song even during its peak of popularity but I love its bardcore version. The comments were hilarious too.
Though what I play a lot is a compilation of Medieval covers of hip hop songs. It sounded so cool, I bet if these songs actually existed in that period, people will definitely jam with it.
I like the version of The Real Slim Shady a lot. Haha.
There are also versions where someone sings along like the cover for the song Creep. There are a lot of other songs similar to this video, just browse on the channel Hildegard von Blingin'.
A distinct sound of the Medieval music is the usage of percussion instruments accompanied by flute, for example. Some known instruments for creating this music are lute, mandore, vielle, psaltery, shawm, harp, bagpipe, and gitterm.
If I am not mistaken, the popularity for Medieval versions grew this year. This is based on the comments and upload dates of most videos on Youtube.
People also refer to Medieval music covers as "Bardcore". People who were fan of bardcore consider it as a new music genre.
I like listening to the bardcore version of songs that are familiar to me. I play it on the background while I browse the internet or while I'm drawing. Most of the versions have no singer in it so it's not distracting. This style of music is fun to listen to as it gives songs a different flavor that is very pleasing to the ears. Bardcore gaining popularity is probably one of the few good things that happened this year.
