I heard this song on a YouTube tangent that sprung from 'Voljela me ne nijedna' by Azra. I hadn't really listened to any 70's Yugoslavian rock before, but 70's rock/metal is my favorite genre as far as rock goes.
The guitar riff in this song had me sold immediately.
When I looked at the video, I saw this dude smoking. I was also smoking at the time, so I thought it was cool:)
Eventually I learned some of the words of the song, and it's about a boy who picks up a guitar and it unleashes his magical power. He smokes his first Drina(Yugoslav brand of cigarette) at 6 years old and leaves home at 8.(on Mother's Day)
He plays his guitar, and everyone sings along with him.
The chorus says Long Live the green grass, because the sleep that the people get in the grass is the best.
I think people follow the kid around in the song and listen to him play, but I am unsure of a direct translation.
At any rate, I love this song, and I am trying to play the guitar riff. I love singing the words 'podigli sretne ruke na nebu.' It means, roughly, 'they raised happy hands to the sky.' It is so much fun to say in Serbo-Croatian!
If you are open to hearing some kick ass 70's rock, I highly recommend checking this song out.
If you were around in Yugoslavia, maybe it will bring some good memories:)
Hopefully I will have some form of a cover for this song soon.
