Hello music lovers and Hello hivers!
It is a bank holiday weekend in the UK and I have a busy day in Edinburgh tomorrow so am posting my ttt today after Mrs T got me awestruck by seeing Thunderstruck on youtube on Saturday!
Time for three tunes from 2Cellos.
It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday
Where to start ~ Electrifying Strings with 2Cellos!
This week, I want to spotlight a duo who completely redefined what you can do with a classical instrument: 2Cellos.
I used to play the violin at school but what they do with a cello is just fluffing obscene.
For those of you like me who were unfamiliar with them until Saturday when an ad popped up on a Youtube channel of Mrs T's, then 2Cellos consists of Croatian cellists Luka Šulić and Stjepan Hauser.
Both are classically trained musicians who met in their teens, initially as rivals in music competitions. However, they decided to play together bringing their incredible talent and passion to a wider audience by tackling modern pop and rock music on their cellos.
I must have been in bonzodoodah land not to have seen them before!
Their big break came in 2011 when they uploaded a cello cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" to YouTube.
It went viral and the rest as they say is fluffing history until they broke up!
As you will see in a minute, it showcased their unique blend of technical classical skill and fluffing rock'n'roll energy.
Sony signed them in 2011 and they released 6 albums. They went on world tours and even opened for Elton John.
Their electrifying stage presence got me, they are like lead guitarists in a rock band they way the put everything into their performances!
Choosing just three tunes has been tough, I have listened to a fair amount of their stuff over the last two days, so here are my picks for this week's #ttt:
So today we have three tunes from 2CELLOS
Tune 1 ~ 2CELLOS - Smooth Criminal (Michael Jackson Cover)[OFFICIAL VIDEO]
You have to start where it all began and this is the video I mentioned that launched their careers.
It perfectly showcased their initial concept, which was to take a globally recognised pop/rock hit and transforming it into a dynamic intense cello duet.
The energy is just fluffing mental and god knows how many bows had to be restrung with all the hair that was broken!
And cello spins, how cool are they! You can see the interplay between Luka and Stjepan which is a trademark of all their pieces.
I wonder how many kids wanted to learn cello after seeing this!
Tune 2 ~ 2CELLOS - Thunderstruck (AC/DC Cover)[OFFICIAL VIDEO]
So this is what I saw on Saturday and it blew my fluffing socks off, or it would if I wore any!
To quote gemini...
If "Smooth Criminal" opened the door, "Thunderstruck" blew it off its hinges and set it on fire.
I am a big AC/DC fan,of course it helps they are Scottish/Australian and Rangers football fans, but this cover of Thunderstruck is gobsmackingly amazing!
Mrs T said watch this. I knew she likes the classical stuff so it looked like we were going to get some Mozart or something with the audience all dressed up in that vintage clothing and wigs etc.
But bloody hell, it went pure bloody mental!
This cover is pure raw unadulterated energy, if this does not move you to music then fluff all will!
Taking on AC/DC's iconic riff on cellos was audacious to put if fluffing mildly but they absolutely nailed it.
I choose this version as it is the iconic live version in front of a baroque-era audience (whom I don't know if they knew what they were going to listen to) but as the song goes on you see the audience getting drawn in!
And yeah watch those strings in the bows break!
Pure magic!
I immediately thought of when I listened to it, this is classical instruments playing rock music. Amazing!
Tune 3 ~ 2CELLOS - Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen Cover)[OFFICIAL VIDEO]
I like to try and make stories when I write my posts or at least make them entertaining. This is no different.
After the first two high-octane tunes I had a visit from the bow police!
The bow police, can't you believe ...
So to satisfy them ... no bows were harmed in making this video 🤣.
I could have put in another Rock anthem but no this showcases simplicity and the sheer beauty that Bowed String Instruments can produce with skilled musicians. As I said I played the violin, but these guys are on a different musical planet to most musicians!
Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" has been covered by tons of peeps but I doubt any are like this 2Cellos version.
It demonstrates their deep musicality and sensitivity, proving they are not just about speed and power, but also profound expression, it also reminds me of Rab a long deceased friend of mine who was a master pool player.
Eddie...playing pool is like making love. You need to be rough and hard at times and then soft and gentle at others. Master that and you have mastered pool!
I hoped you enjoyed watching and listening to these as much as I had had discovering them!
Which was your favourite 2Cellos tune or was it one of the many others that could have been chosen? Or have you never heard of them?!?
Note: The 3 YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.
I wish that you all have a brilliant happy fun and terrific Tuesday until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶
