"Music and it makes me feel alright". I have songs coming in and out of my head all of the time. Sometimes, it's because someone says something to me and my response comes in the form of a song. Other times it's the actually words the say, that make a certain song pop into my head and yes I have to share, by singing it of course.
I do love to sing. Ever since I was a little girl, I would roam the countryside singing to the trees and the cows. Today, I sing as I cycle my bike to and from work or when I'm taking the dogs for a walk.
One of these days I am going to just sing instead of speak.
Today, as part of the wonderful Three Tune Tuesday initiative, created by the one and only , I want to share Three songs by Chinchilla. Some of us know her already because she has sang with the super talented Ren. But today, its her time to shine.
I got hooked, when I heard her sing 'Chalk Outlines' with Ren, her voice was so powerful. So I wanted to dive in and explore some of her other stuff and well, she did not disappoint.
'Fingers', was the first song of hers that I listened to and I was blown away. She is giving off some serious Kate Bush vibes in this one. Her vocal range is amazing and she is also really theatrical as well, which I love. You can tell, that she feels every word that she sings. She puts some much into this performance, which is live. She sings with so much passion and I love how she utilises her voice. You'll understand what I mean when you hear this track. There is something very bewitching about her and no it's not just her super long nails.
Next up is a cover of "Sexual Healing", which she performs on the street with Ren. Lets be honest, this is not an easy song to cover and it could easily turn out crap. But they do an awesome job and this performance really showcases Chinchilla's voice. They really have such wonderful chemistry and their voices really compliment each other.
Chinchilla, is the first one to sing and she comes in so strong, with so much power and passion. And when they sing together, it's fire.
This is Chinchilla's latest song, and the first one she has released since becoming an independent artist. It is essentially a pop song and I'll be honest and say that I don't usually like pop songs, but this one packs a punch. The lyrics, her rhymes, the arrangement, her voice. And that drop, when you listen to it, you'll know what I mean.
I've always liked Missy Elliot and this song reminds me a little of some of her stuff. But it is all Chinchilla and I have not been able to stop singing it, since I first heard it.
From this song and Fingers, you can tell that Chinchilla was in an abusive relationship in the past and I love that she is sharing her journey to empowerment through her music, through her art.
To me, she is a true artist.
