From the day I was on Steemit and transferred to Hive I have written a lot about music.
For me music is a motor, it drives me. Without music I am not sure if I could live the life I am living. Music is like a vain in good and in bad times.
This post is all about the songs which are important to me for different reasons. Some I will explain and some ....well you can perhaps guess the motivation. :)
Creed - With arms wide open
Source
I could have chosen a whole bunch of songs of Creed, for me Creed was one of the best discoveries at the time the Album "Human Clay" came out. The combination of the heavy riffs and the voice of Scott Stapp. I think the combination is just meant to be, with arms wide open is just a song which gives me goosebumbs.
Emma Heesters - Strong
Source
The clip is from a TV show "the best singers of Holland" , every season a couple of dutch singers are gathered in Ibiza. Every week one of them is the center of the program and the others will sing a song from the central singer or a song which it tight bonded with the person.
This time Floor Jansen the Female singer of Nightwhish was in the center of the evening. Nightwhish is a gothic metal band. Emma Heester took a song of them and made it hers with a bit of Style change... But the expression and emotion on Floor Jansen her face...... Thats what music is all about, I don't have to say anything more I guess..
Prince - Nothing compares to you
Source
For me the best ever version of Princes own "Nothing compares to you"..... Prince as Rosie.....the dynamic duo... The timing of the band, the breaks and the emotion both throw into this song... That's emotion into the music....
Gary Moore - Parsienne Walkways
Source
There is no guitarist who can let a Gibson sing like Gary Moore right
This song, the solo, it cries..... It hits you right into the heart... although he was such a gifted guitarist, this song isn't about the shredding....it's about the overdriven sound... the emotion....
Just have a look at the crowd.... The expression on their faces...it tells me they witnessed a moment which the will remember for the rest of their lifes..
OZZY OSBOURNE - "Mr. Crowley"
Source
Randy Rhoads...what can I say... His guitarplaying gives me the goosebumbs. Mr. Crowley just is for me the ultimate example of magic... The magic between Ozzy and Randy is just something you won't see often. Sad they never got to stretch their cooperation......
Abba -The Way Old Friends Do
Source
Whenever I hear this song I think of my grandfather. He was a very sweet an humble man. Whenever he visited our house I could count on it, this song was played. The smile on his face and the twinkle in his eyes.... Worth millions.... He died when I was eleven but I would never forget the evenings, listening to Abba, together with my Grandfather....
Queensryche - Silent Lucidity
Source
There is a little story about this one. Since my youth I already had the songs selected which I wanted to be played on my funeral, a bit akward, I admit, but I was so determined about these songs. These songs are:
- Always With you, Always with me, by Joe Satriani
- For the love of God, by Steve Vai
- Roots, bloody Roots , by Sepultura.
Roots, bloody roots had a deeper meaning for me. Who'm ever you are, what ever you do...at the end you go back to your roots.... That's what I always kept in mind. The older I was getting, my wife got a bit of a problem still selected those songs hahaha, especially Roots Bloody roots. I must confess, it's quiet a song for a funeral :P . So I made a compromise, I skipped Roots bloody roots by added Silent Lucidity, this bombastic song with the great voice of Geoff Tate, one of the best metal singers ever...
So my wife is happy knowing that whenever the moment is and she overlives me, she doens't have to appoligize to the people :P
Matt Andersen - Broken man
Source
The most of you know I love Matt Andersen a lot, such a genuine singer, absolute great musician and most of all a great guy.
This song, Broken man, is just a magnificent song. The arrangement, the lyrics and the way he brings it..... That's all there is to know and feel about music. This video was taken at the show in Utrecht the Netherland. Filmed by the man next to me. I was there together with y good friend Rien, we had seats 1 and 2... For us he didn't even had to use a mic, he has such a powerfull voice,.
Journey - Mother, Father
Source
Journey also has a special place in my musical heart. This song, for instance, has such a power. Deen Castronovo sings and drums at the same time.... Difficult at itself, but the way he sings this is just mind blowing.
Which songs are special for you, let me know !!
Have a great day my Hive friends,
Peter
