This post proves how beautiful music is and that you don't have to stick to a specific genre. In recent weeks I was in the delusion of Abba, today I actually listened to Queensrÿche all day. A band that has been around for a long time but that I only really listened to at a later age. Back in the days of the 80's and 90's rock Queensrÿche was a famous band. The singer at the time, Geoff Tate, had an enormous range in terms of voice. That was characteristic of Queensrÿche's music.
My brother gave me a DVD at the time (streaming was not yet a commodity) entitled "Live Evolution" which was a live recording at the Moore Theater in Seattle. A gem in music history if you ask me.
The first song of the concert N M 156 immediately shows the power of the band, thick guitar riffs, tight and fast drumming with the amazing, almost cabaret-like voice of Geoff.

One of my favorites has to be "The lady wore black". The subtle intro with the beautiful melodic bass line. This song came from the first EP.

Jet city woman is also a typical Queensrÿche number. In this version you can clearly hear that the drummer, in addition to hitting very hard, alternates nicely with his bass drum, not a 'straightforward' bass. I love that :)

Geoff Tate was kicked out of the band in 2012. There was a lot going on that led to several lawsuits. In particular for the brand name 'Queensryche' and the right to play songs. I must say very honestly that I have not or hardly listened to the new Queensrÿche. To me, Geoff is the voice of Queensrÿche.
During Covid I watched a live stream concert by Geoff with my brother, I ordered tickets, just didn't pay much attention to the starting time, that was at five o'clock in the morning Dutch time lol. Geoff, like us, has aged a bit and is still touring with his band. Nowadays it is very hip to have extra VIP-like offers. You can go on a whole week with Geoff and his band, he is an avid wine lover and has his own vineyard. Then you can hang out with them for a week and of course visit a concert :)
Finally, my favorite Queensrÿche song. It is also one of the most famous, but, especially in this version, this song is so well put together. Eng song is about feeling, and I do feel it. So much dynamics and feeling. I'm not going to experience it myself, but this one is on my list for my funeral. (but I'll wait a while ;) )
