#Kiss Blogging Idea Week 82 PROMPT:
Do you prefer to have minimal dishware, or keep enough for large gatherings on hand? What impacts this decision for you?
The first thing my mom said to me about a year ago, when she visited us, her first time in my kitchen was;
Where are your plates?
I smiled and said, they are right In front of you ma.
Mom; yeah, I can see just a few ones, where are the remaining ones?
I; almost busted out with laughter,🤭 knowing that she knew better than to act surprised.
they are all there, Mom.
Mom; but how can these few cookery be enough for you guys?
Me; It is just hubby, me, and my little son whose major plate for now are the two God-given gifts on my chest.😍
We don't need plenty of plates in our kitchen, ma, at least for now. And if we need to organize a party we can always get dishware from the catering service around at a favorable price. Or get some disposable ones from the store.
She paused for a while, and said, you are still into this your less is more of a thing. I thought after marriage you would change, but you seem to be doing great with it. Your house, your rule and if less makes you happier and more comfortable, so be it, your happiness is all that matters.
Thank you, Mummy.😊 minimalism makes my life so easy, my space is always organized which translates to more productivity and peace of mind.
Oh, is that what it is called? minimalism? yes Mom. Our conversation ended with two of us having tea, while I explained more to her how helpful this minimalist lifestyle has been to me.
I knew why Mom was so surprised on that day. She saw the plenty of plates gifted to me during my wedding and she was wondering what had happened to them.
I did not hesitate to dash them out after our wedding as I knew, they would mostly be sitting in one corner of my kitchen without me having any use for them for too long. So I gave them out to people I knew would put them to better use.
Growing up, I was saddled with washing our used dishes, and I always disliked why I had to wash plenty of plates as there used to be so many of them that my energy would end up being drained.
However, I couldn't blame my mom for having so many plates as it is only practical for someone in her position with plenty of family members to cater for, having that many disheswares was a necessity.
On the other hand, right then, I just knew that when I started my own family, having plenty of plates in my kitchen wouldn't be a part of my deal. Besides, I wasn't planning on having a large family.
Every item in my kitchen is very minimal and necessary. From plates to spoons, cups, tea mugs, forks, glass cups and bowls. Etc
They are all that I can easily take good care of while they serve me well. And besides, there is a great chance we might move again anytime soon. So having plenty of dishware among other things will only make packing more difficult for us when the time comes. For that, I kept what I truly needed and gave others to friends who needed them more.
This has made washing my dishes and organizing my kitchen so easy, as there are always a few items to deal with.
With less dishware, washing my dishes and organizing my kitchen has stopped being a nightmare.🥰
