Hello everyone, it's a great pleasure to welcome you to my blog, I hope you all are doing well. Today I will be discussing on the blogging idea for the week where we were asked to share how we manage to live sustainably for the betterment of our planet. You know, if there is anything we all need to know, it's that whatever we do have an impact on the planet, it can be either good or bad, so the question we should ask ourselves is, what we do, does it impact our planet positively or negatively? I know as humans we are imperfect beings but then we do strive to get it right on a daily basis.
Sustainable living in simple terms means a life that is free of waste. Is it really possible to live a life without waste? Considering the modern way of living today. Now so many products are packaged in a way that after use we just dispose of them without even considering recycling them. Well, I won't blame people too much when it comes to the aspect of recycling because our industries should be responsible for doing that if the government fails to. There is almost no good policy to regulate the way we dispose our waste and most times people just end up burning them thereby causing nuisance to the environment and the atmosphere.
Most people are ignorant about what good recycling can do to us and it will be just wise if people are oriented on it. The truth is I'm also a victim of this but I do know it is something that is not healthy for our planet and I'm happy there is now a good way for me to dispose waste without causing too much nuisance to the environment. There are other little ways I try to live sustainably and they are;
As a person I was never so privileged to get what I wanted and that includes what I wear and I usually get help from some neighbors then. I lived with my dad and for the time I lived with him I can count how many times he used his money to buy clothes for myself and my sister, it was only on rare occasions and that is because we always got clothes from neighbors and friends. I liked what they did and growing up I also cultivated that habit of giving out my old or tight clothes to people I know they will need it and that way I don't have to throw them away.
One other thing that I've learned how to do is making the food that will be enough for the day or days as I wish. Food wastage is something that I try really hard to avoid and that's why it's easier when one has a refrigerator or a freezer, you can easily store your leftovers and microwave them next time when you want it. By so doing, it saves us a lot, we do not have to dispose things anyhow, we just have to keep them till the next time when we need them.
Whenever I go to the market, I always make sure to take my own nylon or bag just to avoid me bringing back home what I know would be of waste. I only go to the market without bags when I know I don't have any or when I forgot to bring one with me to the market. And when buying anything, I try as much as possible to only go back home with things that can easily be recycled to avoid me filling up my waste bin immediately. This is really hard though because almost everything that is sold in the market is packaged in tin that are hardly ever useful.
Living sustainably is not easy but I think the major reason for that is due to ignorance of so many things ranging from what to buy, when and how to recycle all of the things we buy. I believe things will be more and more easier if people are sensitized and showed how to recycle their so called waste.
This is my response to the topic and I'd love to invite to check out this week's blogging ideas and also share some knowledge with us. You can find full details HERE.
