The environment we find ourselves in has a great impact on our mood and I it can shape our day to day activities which includes our minimalist approaches. Various factors influencing our physical environment, such as the colors we see, the way we are either organized or clutter, these can influence our over all well being. And that is why we have to put all of these things into perspective when we talk about how our environment influences our mood even as minimalist.
Let's begin with our physical environment which directly affects our mood by making us respond to things in our environment. For instance, the bright and natural appearance has proven to enhance the feelings of positivity and liveliness, while colors that are dim can make a person feel more relaxed or be in a sober mood. Likewise, some colors ignite different ways by which we respond emotionally, just like how colors like orange and yellow colors promotes the feelings of happiness because of how bright they are, and cool colors like blue and purple gives the feeling of calmness.
I do know there are a lot of people like myself that appreciate more of dim colors with a mixture of a cool color. I just like it when my surroundings has these kind of colors because I like being in a sober and reflective mood most of the time, hehe. But then my likeness for dim colors are mostly for what I can put on and not how a place should be like. There are some color of clothes that just brightens my mood while there are some that make me loss my self confidence.
Also, the level of how things are organize and clutter in our environment can also have a great impact on our mental well-being. A cluttered and disorganized space can make me feel overwhelmed, restless , and also make me easily loss focus. But if I'm in a neat and well-organized space, it can give me a sense of calmness, vividness and most especially it would make me more productive and creative.
Since as a minimalist I prioritize simplicity and I'm intentional about the way I live, I always make sure to engage in organizing my physical spaces to build a peaceful and uncluttered atmosphere. Because being in a clean and organized surrounding has a very good impact on our mental well-being by creating a sense of order and also helping us reduce every form of distractions which then help us to be more productive and calculative as well.
Also, I'm very conscious of other physical aspects, like my social and cultural environment which I interact with on a daily basis. It also plays a vital part in shaping my minimalist practices that in turn sharpens my mood. Society and social ethics has a great influence how we consume things and my desire for the daily things of life.
Staying in an environment that capitalizes on materialism and things to be consumed can make it even more daring to accept minimalist practices. Howbeit, being exposed to different lifestyles, like engaging with communities that value minimalism, has always been an inspiration to so many of us to help us cultivate the right habits and also for us to adopt a genuine minimalist lifestyle.
In conclusion, the environment and all that it is made up of has impact on our mood and can shape our lifestyles as minimalist. By helping us stay more focused on our physical environment which gives us calmness, help us stay organized, embrace simplicity and also seek out supportive social communities which can improve our overall well-being and also help us cultivate a beautiful minimalist approach to life in general.
