Before the invention of plastic, I know a few will wonder what was used, well wonder no more, we made use of paper leaf and normal paper, hehe. Today most young ones will find it rather disgusting to serve something edible in a paper leaf but they don't know how helpful it can be to them and their environment. At first we all will love plastic because of how easy and cheap it has helped in packaging things but then when we realize how bad it can be for our health and our environment, we will minimize our use of it.
The truth is, I've been a victim of carelessly disposing my used plastic and that was because I just wanted to do what others were doing I guess. Well, without being told I knew plastics were more of a problem than a solution because I've used them a lot and when it comes to the time of disposing them, it becomes a big problem because they occupy lots of space in the waste bin and I just don't like it, I most times regret buying them, lolz. Now I got to realize that one of the best way to do away with them was to burn them but you know, that was also bad for our ecosystem so I had to look for a better way.
Since plastics are hard to dispose, the best way out is recycling. Recycling is the best option here because it helps in so many ways, it helps to save time, money and energy as well. When we recycle our plastic, all we have to do is make them usable again through a few process which are not so difficult. Here in my country Nigeria, I know a lot of people recycling plastics so what I do most times is first, I try to make sure the plastic is completely intact, that means I will try as much as I can to make sure it's useful even after using it.
The second thing I do is to dispose it somewhere I know those making use of them will come for it and luckily for me most times it works but then my fear will then be the next person who will make use of the plastics, as we all know humans are different and most people don't really care about the dangers of disposing plastics carelessly. Plastic is a chemical material and it is almost impossible to convert them back to it's raw state, so that is why I would advise you reading this to always try as much as you can to recycle your plastics if you are not doing that.
The good thing about this is that you can also make a living off recycling plastics. I know of someone who does that for a living and he is doing really well for himself and his family. You don't have to do it for a living but then know you are helping someone out there earn a living when you dispose your plastics as you should. Like I said previously, always make sure your plastic are reusable even after you use them so they can be profitable to those into the business of recycling them.
This is my own little way of making good use of plastics to help myself, others and my environment. Please feel free to leave your comments, your experiences, ideas and opinions, as many as you can everything is welcomed and will be highly appreciated.
