Greetings my dear friends, I am happy to be able to share again a post with you in this incredible community where we clearly see how many do wonders with little. I am happy to tell you an example of "less is more" in my daily life.
When I was a little girl I used to say that when I grew up I would have a huge and colorful house, full of furniture and so on. However, today I think very, very differently, every day the same idea crosses my mind and from my point of view a small house is my "less is more". For 3 years we lived in a small house with one bedroom, one bathroom and a small living and dining room, perfect for my husband and me.
But for a while now we have been living in a house big enough for us, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 huge office, giant kitchen and a spacious living room. But it hasn't been a day since we moved here that both my husband and I thought the same thing, the smaller the house the better for us.
A big space means more than filling, and in fact when we moved in the owners had a lot of furniture, kitchens and beds and although the house was huge, there was almost no space left. This generated a lot of anxiety for me, I felt cramped, even though this house is 4 times bigger than the previous one where we lived, plus it always takes too much time to clean.
Our plans are to move to a much smaller house and every day we get a new reason to do so, however, the main reason is that less space equals more peace for us. We don't need a lot of furniture because there are only two of us and we almost always sit in the same one, we don't need so many beds or other things that we have to spare.
The place where one lives should be a safe space where you feel comfortable everyday and not overwhelmed at all, everyone has their own way to make it possible, but in our case having a simple place where only the essentials fit is perfect and comfortable and that is our goal.
However, for now we live here and the truth is that we have also learned that sometimes when plans don't work out, you have to be adaptable and resilient, so my way of keeping it simple while we are in a spacious house is as follows:
We disassembled one of the rooms and used it as a storage room (since we could not get rid of the furniture and other objects), in it we kept large machines, the bases of the beds and mattresses and everything that came in. In a box I kept all the table and wall decorations that were there and we left the house as clear as possible.
In the case of cleaning I take my time, I know that doing everything in one day will make me end up very exhausted and sore, so every day I clean and tidy a little, this helps me not to be stressed and tired all the time. This has helped me to not live frustrated, but conscious of what I want, but grateful with what I have and looking for solutions to make it as simple as possible.
Doing this has helped me a lot, almost every day I get something new to keep in the storage room and every time there is a little more free space which makes me very happy, we will take care of the colors later. Today I am sure that what I wanted is not what I want today, because the simpler my life is, the happier I am, because less is always more.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my publication, I hope from the bottom of my heart that you liked it, but most of all that my experience can be useful to you in some way. See you soon friends, we will read each other next time.
