In my workplace most of my coworkers usually use several materials once and after using them they throw them away, I have seen how they throw away things that are in good condition and can continue to be used if it is accommodated, however it ends up in the trash can, So it was going to happen with a fabric that was recently bought and after being used once to paste a poster it was going to be thrown away, when I saw that the fabric despite having silicone marks parts of it could still be saved and as it is a fabric that was only used once, I decided to rescue it before it was thrown away and bring it home to see how I could save it.
When I saw the fabric I could notice that it had traces of silicone in several places, which is bad, because when the silicone sticks to the fabric no matter how much you clean it you will see the mark, however, I saw several parts where the fabric had not been damaged and I decided to give it a new use and that was making some scrunchies for the hair.
Initially I tried to remove the silicone residue with the iron, although the glue was removed a little, most of the fabric was full of silicone, so I had to cut out the part that had no glue to make the scrunchies.
After trimming, I sealed the fabric with the tinder candle so that the fabric would not fray, then I measured 75 cm long by 15 cm wide, trimmed, folded the fabric lengthwise and sewed it straight along the edge twice to fix the fabric, turned the fabric over and ironed it.
Once this step is done, with a 25 cm garter we introduce it inside the fabric that we sewed and we take the garter to the other end of the fabric, when passing the garter to the other end we join both garters by means of a knot, when doing that the fabric takes shape, with a straight seam we close both edges,
Finally, leaving us this beautiful tail for the hair, being made of satin fabric, it is very soft and helps to protect our hair from getting damaged, I love the final result because it is very nice and I could give use to a fabric that only had one use, with the fabric that is left over I will create new projects and take full advantage of it.
I am happy to have reused this fabric and demonstrate the infinite number of uses that can be given without having to discard it.
As we have the vision of taking care of our natural resources, reducing to the maximum, reusing and recycling, should become a way of life, besides that, setting an example is one of the ways to teach that with creativity and ingenuity you can reuse many things.
What do you think of the scrunchie, it's beautiful isn't it? And the best of all is that it was practically free and I was able to do my bit to take care of my environment.
I hope you liked my project, see you next time in another #WastelessWednesday.
