Welcoming 2023
In just a few weeks, we are to welcome 2023. I am not sure how it will be but we all can hope that there would be nothing extreme going on. This decluttering is something I already did a year ago where I declutter some aspects of my life, digital clutter, my non-digital things, and my occasional impulsive shopping habit. In retrospect, this year I did pretty awesome with clutter. I did not really shop a lot because I was moving half of the year. Instead of things, my life this year has been full of memorable experiences that I think were better than my previous year. I am also happy that this year I made new connections and my overall outlook on my life has been more positive than previous years. However, just like last year, I intend to do some cleaning up here and there. Maybe this will be an inspiration for you as well!
The Digital Clutter
If last year my social media consumption was on an unhealthy level, this year I managed to curb everything. I am not active anywhere except twitter and on hive. If friends or people I know want to contact me, they can do so, through my personal line. I still use social media but strictly for trend researching and staying up-to-date with the latest tech trends or things that I like. I am proud to say, I have successfully changed my social media habit. However, my biggest clutter this year would be subscriptions. There are a few online subscriptions that I have to let go. Additionally, some apps that I no longer use have to be uninstalled. These days, there's an app for everything but there are only a few that I actually use all the time or often. So, that's a part of my digital clutter that I am doing before the year ends. Another big thing this year is that since I took up photography, I have so many images that I have not sorted out. I am currently trying to remove them and only keep a few that are memorable to me.
The Physical Items
There aren't that many physical items that I purchased this year. If I purchase something, it's often because it was a necessary replacement. However, there are some things from inside my room that were from 2020 and 2021 that needed to be let go. Since last year, I have already downsized many things in my room however there are things like bags from delivery that are piling up. I plan on giving it away to my neighbor because like last year, they like receiving those bags.
Fashion Items and Personal Care
One thing that I like to buy from time to time is dress/fashion items. This year because I was traveling, I ended up getting some souvenirs here and there. They aren't something to let go, rather they will stay and my old clothings will have to go. Another thing that I also declutter is makeup, medicine and skin care that are about to expire next year. I can be quite forgetful at times that sometimes I bought double items for the things that actually shouldn't. There is also medicine that I bought back in 2022 that needs to be thrown away.
Bonus, there are things that I probably will stop purchasing in 2023.
Backpack and delivery food!
I am so obsessed about finding the greatest backpack for a nomad. I experimented with a few backpacks in the hope that I would fit my life into just one tiny bag. Eventually, I gave away my backpack to my cousin or my family who needed it. Having finally found my ultimate backpack by Eiger, I vow to myself that I will stop purchasing a backpack and experimenting with it. Eiger is a great product and given the price, they can last me a couple of years before I will need a replacement. I got myself a 30L that certainly will fit my life at least for a month.
Another thing that I vow to stop purchasing is unnecessary delivery food. If I can go to the place, I find that it is much cheaper doing so. Obviously with some inconveniences that I have to go outside. At this point in life though, I am totally comfortable going outside much more than I did in the last couple of years. I don't have to prepare myself mentally just to go outside, I can just go and not give a fuck. It might surprise you given that I love traveling but I have come to terms that It's fine going outside and dressing however I like.
I hope this will inspire you to start decluterring before 2023!
