I believe that natural healing is possible if we apply a holistic approach to optimal well-being, and something as simple as colour therapy can be profound, as colours can alter our state of mind.
For the past week, I've been fighting an ailment of some sort, which has my eyes running with a heavy aching head, the chills, and a soar throat, which of course makes me feel miserable. However, I've been allowing my body to heal itself naturally, by keeping hydrated, getting rest, and cultivating optimism through positive psychology.
Pain can disrupt my level of relaxation and inner peace and cause me to struggle to keep calm, if I allow it, so mindfully I alter my mind with the colour hack of visually looking at something purple. Colours do have a psychological effect on me, and I might be naturally drawn to some colours more than others. But when I'm feeling under the weather, I become pragmatic and opt for what's best for staying high in spirits. So despite depleted energies, my everyday tasks have not been daunting, simply because I have been maintaining feelings of self-empowerment, through sensory perception.
Saying that, purple might not be my favourite colour, but I acknowledge what I feel from its prevalence. I find something about the colour purple is inspiring, and it triggers a certain energy within me, which enables me to find courage from within, to achieve normalcy in times of what feels like emotional and physical turmoil.
The inclusion of purple for enhancing my well-being can be anything; From having purple objects in my environment, a vase of purple flowers such as lavender, or in my case for the past few days, wearing my purple glasses.
Life doesn't have to be as complicated as we sometimes make it; From fear of sickness, failure, despair, and many other emotions that we sometimes unconsciously harbour.
Overall, I think life is all about perception, and in many ways, we can train our minds to have a positive outlook regardless of how bleak some days can feel.
Just the mere act of installing these purple glasses psychologically gives me a feeling of power over all circumstances. So much so, that it taps into my inner level of creativity, which is an important element for my mind, which needs to be constantly stimulated.
This colour concept might sound like a high sensitivity, which I think it is to a certain extent. However, are your moods influenced by colour or do you have other colour hacks that work to keep you inspired and self-motivated when you're feeling under the weather? I'd be more than happy to hear about them:)
