I'm really excited to talk about the last point I mentioned: digital minimalism. Speaking of digital minimalism, what I want to highlight is social media minimalism. In the era of social media, where the algorithms are so random, people (social media users) will inevitably consume the random algorithms. Then the users will automatically receive information from the very necessary, to the information that is really useless. If some people enjoy the randomness, I belong to the category that can't stay on social media with short videos and random themes for too long.
So, since the last three years I have started to discipline myself to deactivate certain social media that I think I don't really need. Some of these social media deactivations are periodic, some are permanent, and some are long term.
With this, I feel I have the capability to answer the contest in #KISS123 this time.
What Are Some Of The Positive Effects That Minimalism Has Had On Your LIfe?
So, here we go...
Some of the positive things that I feel after doing digital minimalism, as follows:
Stop following so many influencers
Why is this important? Do we realise that sometimes we follow random influencers on social media, just because we think their content is ‘good’. Whereas... in the concept of minimalism, it's not about whether something is good or not, more narrowly, do we need the content created by that person or not? Does the content bring benefits to us or not? Is the content related to our concerns or not? That's what finally made me stop following influencers just because it's ‘nice for a moment.’ I became more selective in following influencers on social media.
Less Overwhelmed Thinking
How did this happen? I think I know now why this happened to me. When I'm still greedily absorbing all the random information, our brain is told to think faster than we can catch up, therefore, we constantly subconsciously feel that the information becomes important for us to think about. Eventually... our mind gets overwhelmed. We don't prioritise which things should be prioritised as important to think about, and which are unnecessary. This overlapping chaos then makes us feel that there are so many inappropriate things happening in our lives, even though that feeling is not necessarily true. After digital minimalism, I feel so much better than before. My life is calmer, my days are more enjoyable.Thinking More Rationally
Do you realise that social media addiction makes you less rational? The world he sees is a world that is sometimes utopian, while reality is not so. But this is still not general, there are people who are so compatible with social media that they have a way to ride the way of the social media era. While some others, including me. I became more rational and careful in acting on social media and in reality.Loving Myself More
Not being trapped by relying on others for validation, not being busy comparing myself to the success of others makes me understand more and more what I want and what I want, and love myself more.More Productive and Creative.
Well... actually, I still have a few more additional points, but, I feel that it will be too long. Sorry, I hope I'm not wrong in entering the contest this time. Thank you for reading my writing. I wish you all happiness wherever you are. Cheers!
Hi, I am the child of the universe, I like to read books with various genres. I was born in the city of batik but can't draw batik yet. I want to be a novelist, but my works are only short poems that are included in anthology books.
