Cold Snap
I'm not sure who came up with this expression for a spell of cold weather, but it's a great turn of phrase in my opinion - The Beast from the East.
This year has been a strange one in Ireland in terms of weather and the fact that no hard frost had arrived after one week of December had passed. Usually we get a hard frost in October or November at the latest. Another sign of global warming? Probably. I'm glad that the cold spell has arrived though as it is important for nature I am told.
Now that the cold snap has landed, it's getting comfortable and doesn't want to mive on at all, which is quite annoying for an avid golfer like myself, as our course will likely be closed all week.
Here are some photos from out the back with the hard frost set in.
Frosty walls
There are usually cattle grazing in this field behind our house, but not today, it was even to cold for them it seems or maybe they're doing a spot of Christmas shopping?
Frosty Sun
Frosty Moon
It's never easy to photograph the moon, so this is as good as I could do from my handheld smart phone.
The photos used throughout this post are all my own taken on my Samsung smart phone
