The long awaited snow has finally fallen over Belgrade. The best feeling is when you wake up to an unexpected white landscape. As soon as I looked through the window I immediately packed quickly and headed towards the city.
It wasn't that strong when I got there but as time went by it turned into a blizzard. The city streets, wet from the previous day of rain, still weren't covered in white so I first went to the Kalemegdan fortress - easier to retain the snow cover in the park.
There is not many people in the park this early in the morning on a week day so I had to wait at certain spots which I found interesting for someone to appear. You know as a street photographer I always try to making the full scene by adding human element. :) I even did a short Tai Chi practice in the snow - so fun!
As I go back to crowded streets there's a real snow storm happening. You can see in the later photos that the white speckles fill the view. I'm lucky that the autofocus is doing a great job and snapping perfectly on the target. I'm also using shallow depth of field which separates the subject nicely. When I look for the perfect person for the composition in these conditions it's normally someone with dark clothes, with a dark umbrella or in colors that stand out, like reds and blues. It's all about the contrast with the background.
When you are excited and engaged in the activity you don't even feel the cold, even though my gloves are wet, same as the camera. But the two batteries are empty so I have to call it a day. Hope you enjoy the photos! Taken with Fuji X-Pro2 and 35mm F/2.
