Hey, everyone, it's good to talk to you again! I come back with a new collection of street photos and a serious thought about needing to make some changes in order to raise my photography to a new level.
The way I approach these photo walks when in my hometown is that I normally go for the standard route and visit the most popular spots and streets in the city. If you've ever been to Belgrade, it's the Kalemegdan fortress, Knez Mihailova street and the nearby alleys.
These places are popular, they are full of people and tourists so it's easy to find subjects to photograph. They are pretty and have interesting architecture and cultural elements. But after almost 7 years of trying to come up with innovative shots in the same, old places I finally feel drained and exhausted.
It's a common thing for street photographers to spend their entire life documenting the same city or even same, busy parts of the city. But I don't want to be stuck going through the motions without feeling the motivation anymore.
Settling down stifles growth for me. I have to explore new horizons. Every time I visit a new country or town I am tremendously inspired to make photographs. I walk around in awe. It took me this long until I admitted it to myself - in order to grow I need new things to inspire me.
I can't move to a new city just yet so what I'll try to do to combat this issue is - daily travel to new places, explore less popular areas in the city, avoid downtown and go into nature more, even if it means doing less street photography. I might start a new challenge here to push me to do it.
