Some time ago I cut down an unproductive mango tree in the garden. Because it rains often the mango tree becomes damp and starts to rot so it grows fungus.

There are at least two types of mushrooms growing on that mango tree. The two types of mushrooms are the red ear mushroom (Auricularia auricula) and Gerigit mushroom (Schizophyllum).

This mushroom with the Latin name Auricularia auricula-judae is a species of jelly fungus that looks like an ear shape with a jelly-like texture.

To answer my curiosity, I picked these ear mushrooms from where they grew and sure enough, the texture was really like jelly. Not only that, this mushroom is also one of the edible mushrooms.

Then the Schizophyllum mushroom which can also be eaten. This fungus from the Order Agaricales, which belongs to the Schizophyllaceae family, usually grows on weathered logs such as mango, areca nut, coconut and oil palm fronds and some other wood.

Luego el hongo Schizophyllum que también se puede comer. Este hongo del Orden Agaricales que pertenece a la familia Schizophyllaceae generalmente crece en troncos desgastados como mango, nuez de areca, caucho y palma aceitera y algunas otras maderas.
En cuanto al color, algunos hongos Schizophyllum son de color marrón y algunos son de color marrón rojizo. En cuanto al sabor y la textura de este hongo, lo he comido, tiene un olor característico y una textura fibrosa y masticable. Y aquí unas fotos del hongo Schizophyllum del que os hablé:
