Today I again want to share some interesting insect findings from hunting a few days ago. There are four species of insects that I managed to photograph in the bushes on the edge of the rice fields. The first is a pair of "bapak pucung", bapak pucung is a popular nickname in Indonesia for this insect which has the Latin name Dysdercus cingulatus.
This species of true bug from the Pyrrhocoridae family is also known as the "red cotton stainer". And interestingly, I managed to peek and capture several moments while they were mating, the photos of which I have uploaded below.
The second insect is the beautiful Cyclosia moth genus. This moth from the Zygaenidae family has the Latin name Cyclosia sordidus and what I am sharing is a female moth, this can be seen from the white bands located on the wings. I was interested in photographing this moth because I was attracted to its long & attractive antennae.
Then there are also bed bugs that look dashing. Bed bugs in general are sap-sucking insects and what I am sharing seems to be part of the brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys).
"The brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) is an insect in the family Pentatomidae, native to China, Japan, Korea and other Asian regions". Wikipedia
And finally black ants or Camponotus compressus ants are a species of ant that nests in the ground. These ants are easy to find in Southeast Asia and other Asian regions. And what makes me interested in ants is the closeness & cooperation that exists between each other and that doesn't just happen to one particular species of ant, but all types of ants that I have ever seen are the same in this case.
The black ants that I shared do not contain poison if bitten, the most severe cases only get a few scratches and may bleed because the ant's mouth is quite sharp. And hopefully in the future I can photograph types of ants that are venomous or when they get bitten they will experience strong pain and there will be slight swelling at the bite site.
