Oradea named in German Grosswardein in Hungarian Nagyvarad, in Slovak Velky Varadín, the capital of Bihor County, a beautiful large city in the wonderful extreme northwest Romania, last week not far from the border to Hungary.
Above the monumental statue of King Ferdinand is similar to the one unveiled in Unirii Square in 1924, and is the work of sculptor Florin Codre, with the Greek Catholic Episcopal Palace on the background.
The inauguration ceremony for the statue of King Ferdinand I. took place to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the historic visit of the royal family to Oradea on 23 May 1919.
A perfect combi of history, culture and architecture, especially for those who want to discover the city in a quite way, but do not have too much time because like us are only in transit for a short time.
Oradea is considered the Art Nouveau capital of Romania and is known as the City of Kings.

Tasting traditional food is another way to discover the local culture. Plăcintă is a Romanian, Moldavian and Ukrainian traditional a small traditional round cake, usually filled with apples or a soft cheese. Tasty! Unfortunately no time for a photo so quickly are already consumed.
Have a beautiful Day!
