A pair of resting cheetahs
Grazing rhino and zebra
A resting lioness
A pair of giraffes who stood up as I approached
I took the photos of these animals at the Amakhala Game Reserve (comes with a day at the Shamwari Private Game Reserve), in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. I stayed at the Carnarvon Dale Lodge within the Amakhala Game Reserve, which was owned a very nice gentleman named Roger. It was a pretty homely place, where we had dinner with daily with Roger during our stay there, and he shared some history about the game reserve and himself too.
The ranger that took us around was nice too, though he had a knack of testing us on the species of deer that we came across. He did pass us a book for reference on deer species, but there are dozens of deer species and we couldn’t identify them to save our lives. We did guess some correctly though. All in all, I enjoyed my stay and trip at the Amakhala Game Reserve, and I managed to catch 4 of the big five animals of South Africa. The one that we missed was the leopard as they tend to hide on trees and are hard to spot!
