Hello friends,
Today’s Wednesday Walk is by the beach. I know you probably are tired of those photos. Here we have beach access almost everywhere we go, we usually try to stay closer to the beach when we take a walk, so at any time we can get refreshed in cool water. It’s still cool, and it’s not clear when the water will get any warmer. Our recent rains made beach time not as enjoyable but people still swim, especially tourists.
If I was a tourist and spent a lot of money to come here for a vacation, I probably would also sit in the ocean day and night:-)
I recently was talking to a Russian speaking grandma, who said that she misses her homeland and friends, but when she travels
there she misses our ocean. Same with me, when I’m here I miss my family and friends, when I’m there I miss this place and crave for some foods we can’t get there. It’s tricky and challenging on one hand but it’s a huge blessing on another hand. Why you would ask it’s a blessing?
Well, I can explain. By being able to live here and sometimes travel there we get both kinds of foods, we enjoy both snow and ocean, and we see our dear people there and some friends here. So our relationships and experiences are more interesting and rich. We would feel more limiting if we lived in one place for too long time. But I still miss my people even though I see advantages.
Sometimes when I go for a walk, I call my mother, and imagine like if we talk in person, and walk together along the shore. It’s really nice when we can do that. Nowadays internet connection can do wonders for people like me.
Leaving far away from relatives is mostly hard when someone from the family passes away and I can’t go there because I’d have to leave my kids here, and I feel like they are still too young to be without their mom for even a fee weeks. This year I lost both Grandma and Grandpa. It’s really sad and weird. Because of not being there during funerals and memorials, I can’t believe they’re gone. Same with my dad, who passed away during coronavirus restrictions when people couldn’t even fly to other countries and some people were just stuck in places they weren’t planning to stay for long time.
Well, I’m hoping to visit my mom in person soon, and see other relatives. Who knows maybe I’ll post my #wednesdaywalk from there.
I hope you enjoyed the photos.
