A big hello to the Hive community!
I like to consider myself a multifaceted artist, and I like to constantly experiment in the various arts, with a lot of enthusiasm and great care, because I think I can show my talent in several things; in other words, I don't like to limit myself. That is why today I bring you something new, something different from what I have been doing. A series of photographs, which I took with the help of my boyfriend, and I'm very happy with the result.
Un gran saludo a la comunidad en Hive.
Me gusta considerarme a mí mismo un artista polifacético, y me gusta constantemente experimentar en las diversas artes, con mucho entusiasmo y gran esmero, porque creo que puedo mostrar mi talento en varias cosas; en otras palabras, no me gusta limitarme. Es por eso que el día de hoy traigo algo nuevo, algo distinto a lo que he venido haciendo. Una serie de fotografías que me tomé con ayuda de mi novio, y no estoy más que feliz con el resultado.
I started the day in a very good mood and in high spirits, because I had been making plans for this photoshoot for days. Together with a friend and my boyfriend, we would go to a place that seemed like a great background for the idea, or concept, I had in mind.
The whole idea comes from the aesthetic I've been pursuing for the last while, something influenced by the 90s, that trend called y2k, adding urban dyes and Venezuelan manners, with a "badass" touch. My instagram username is @femmemalandro and I wanted to achieve a photoshoot that would be in line with this username.
Empecé el día de muy buen humor y con muchos ánimos, porque tenía días haciendo los planes para esta sesión fotográfica. Junto a una amiga y mi novio, iríamos a un sitio que me parecía un gran fondo para la idea, o concepto, que tenía en mente.
Toda la idea surge de la estética que he perseguido durante el último tiempo, algo influenciado por los 90s, esa tendencia llamada y2k, añadiéndole tintes urbanos y modismos venezolanos, con un toque “malandro”. Mi nombre de usuario en instagram es @femmemalandro y quería lograr una sesión de fotos que quedaran acorde a este username.
Of course, I needed a lot of different accessories for that shoot, especially chains and dark glasses, inspired by the store @ven3k and their photos. So I asked for help from my siblings, my best friend and my boyfriend, and I managed to get the accessories I would use for this photoshoot. A set of chains, bracelets and rings, hats, sunglasses and a scarf; everything was in line with the idea I had in mind.
Claro está, necesitaba un montón de distintos accesorios para aquella sesión, en especial cadenas y lentes oscuros, inspirado por la tienda @ven3k y sus fotografías. Entonces pedí ayuda de mis hermanos, mi mejor amiga y mi novio, y logré conseguir los accesorios que usaría para esta photoshoot. Un set de cadenas, pulseras y anillos, gorras, lentes de sol y una pañoleta; todo quedaba acorde a la idea que tenía en mente.
The time we had agreed on for the session was 3:00 PM, because the sun would be high, which would give better quality to the photos. My gesture was one of complete disappointment when I saw that it was noon and the sky was cloudy and there were signs that it would rain all day. The hours passed and the rain began to fall, but my enthusiasm would not go away, I knew that the sun would come out again and I could take my pictures without any problem.
When the time came, my friend told me that she couldn't make it because she had a problem, but I was already dressed and I didn't want to back out. I told my boyfriend to come home and that we would take care of those pictures.
When he got here, we began our journey to the beautiful place I had gotten. I stopped by a bodega buying cigarettes, because I needed them for the shoot, I am not a smoker nor do I smoke on a regular basis (Don't smoke, it's harmful and corrosive to your health). Once arrived at the site, I took some photos that I would later edit; I really liked the result of these, because they show the place where I would take the photoshoot.
La hora que habíamos acordado para la sesión era a las 3:00 PM, porque el sol estaría bien alto, lo que le daría mejor calidad a las fotos. Mi gesto era de completa decepción cuando veo que era mediodía y el cielo estaba nublado y había indicios de que llovería todo el día. Las horas pasaban y la lluvia empezó a caer, pero mi entusiasmo no se iba, sabía que el sol saldría de nuevo y podría sacar mis fotos sin ningún problema.
Llegada la hora, mi amiga me avisó que no podría porque se le había presentado un inconveniente, que en otra oportunidad podría, pero yo ya estaba vestido y no quería echarme para atrás. Le dije a mi novio que se viniera a casa y que nosotros nos encargaríamos de esas fotos.
Cuando llegó aquí, empezó nuestro trayecto hasta el hermoso sitio que había conseguido. Pasé por una bodega comprando cigarrillos, porque los necesitaba para la sesión de fotos, no soy un fumador ni fumo de forma regular (No fumen, es dañino y corrosivo para la salud). Una vez llegados al sitio, saqué unas fotos que luego editaría, la verdad me gustó el resultado de estas, porque muestran el sitio donde sacaría la sesión de fotos.

I tried not to make a big deal out of it, after all we are human, imperfections are part of life and that's what makes us unique, of course some pimples wouldn't ruin my photoshoot.
It was time to start, I started to put on the accessories I would use and of course the stares didn't take long to appear. Living in a country like this, which has a lot of prejudices, especially towards queer culture, it was to be expected; but, guess who didn't pay attention and proudly continued to take the pictures. That's right, me.
Cuando abro la cámara frontal, recuerdo lo que estuve pensando cada vez que me veía al espejo: ¡Las espinillas más inoportunas!
Traté de no darle importancia, al fin y al cabo somos humanos, las imperfecciones son parte de la vida y eso es lo que nos hace únicos, por supuesto que unas espinillas no arruinarían mi sesión de fotos.
Ya era hora de empezar, me empecé a poner los accesorios que usaría y por supuesto las miradas no tardaron en aparecer. Viviendo en un país como este, que tiene muchos prejuicios, en especial a la cultura queer, era algo de esperarse; pero, adivinen quién no le prestó atención y siguió con orgullo a sacarse las fotos. Así es, yo.
Then, when I finished my photos, I took some selfies with my boyfriend to serve as a behind the scenes, and I really liked them, I think it's important to mention it because he helped me a lot when I was taking the pictures, and he always made sure that the photos came out well and the lighting was perfect.
Usé muchos de los accesorios que había llevado, incluidos los cigarros, pero esta parte fue ciertamente frustrante porque al no estar acostumbrado a fumar, se me hizo imposible sacar una foto decente. Por supuesto que todo sea por el arte, pero de verdad que era imposible conseguir una solo foto presentable.
Luego, cuando terminé mis fotos, me saqué unas selfies con mi novio que sirvieran como un detrás de cámaras, y la verdad me gustaron mucho, me parece importante mencionarlo porque él me ayudó mucho a la hora de sacarme las fotos, y siempre cuadraba para que las fotos salieran bien y la iluminación fuera perfecta.

Finally, we wrapped up the session and went home, where the most stressful part for me came: selecting the photos to edit. It would be a difficult task because of the extensive amount of photos I had taken. I immediately opened the chat with my friend, passed her all the photos and told her to give me her honest opinion. After a few hours, she was able to tell me which were her favorites and it was time to edit.
I got down to work and after an arduous effort and a few hours of stress and coffee, I managed to edit my photos until I was satisfied with the final result.
I attach the edited photos and I hope you like the result, because personally, I loved them, I had a long time without feeling so satisfied with a photoshoot.
Finalmente, dimos por terminada la sesión y nos vinimos a casa, donde venía la parte más estresante para mí: seleccionar las fotos que debía editar. Sería tarea difícil por la extensa cantidad de fotos que había sacado. En seguida abrí el chat con mi amiga, le pasé todas las fotos y le dije que me diera su honesta opinión. Luego de algunas horas, pudo decirme cuales eran sus favoritas y la hora de editar había llegado.
Me puse manos a la obra y después de un arduo esfuerzo y algunas horas de estrés y café, logré editar mis fotos hasta quedar satisfecho con el resultado final.
Adjunto las fotos ya editadas y espero que el resultado les guste mucho, porque en lo personal, a mí me encantaron, tenía muchísimo tiempo sin sentirme así de satisfecho con una sesión de fotos.
