Can you see that look? I don't think this one likes being photographed π
I met him at the beginning of my walk, and if he thought he would discourage me from entering his area, he was very wrong!
Today I invite you for a pleasant walk, with no difficult history in the background. I will tell you a few words about a vast meadow in the center of Krakow, which fortunately is under protection - in 2003, regional authorities created an ecological site here.
Here is the Nowa Huta Meadows, a piece of greenery that avoided civilization in the 1950s and later. In those years, a new district of Krakow was built - Nowa Huta. The area has remained untouched, probably because it is boggy, crisscrossed by canals - in the 18th century, the Vistula flowed here.
Nowa Huta Meadows is a vibrant, green enclave of KrakΓ³w with an area of over 57 ha. Here you can meet over 370 species of flowering plants, 37 breeding bird species (among them endangered), and an extraordinary wealth of insects. The vast, flat space covered with grass and vegetation typical of wetlands is a natural respite for the eyes.
You can walk around the meadows with an alley or go down and run across the grass. As I mentioned, the area is wet, so you need good shoes for this. After the rain, it is safer to stay in the alley :)
In the photo below, you can see about 1/3 of the meadow area. In the background, the characteristic chimneys of the heat and power plant - thanks to them, I have hot water in the tap.
In spring, the grass is young and lush green, and in summer, it turns into a multi-colored, waving meadow.
But even now, you can meet the first heralds of awakening life - colorful and fragrant.
The ground is wet, so the only safe place to sit is the wooden platforms. Young people often organize small outdoor parties there. Until today, it was the only opportunity to meet friends and drink beer without being disturbed - the policemen don't come here. But today is a big day - the authorities have allowed beer gardens to open. Such a small thing, but it makes people happy ;) I think, however, that the wooden platforms in Nowa Huta Meadows will still be popular.
It is my favorite city's green corner nearby (I live in this district). Meadows are so huge that even on weekends in good weather, you can find a quiet place for yourself. With a bit of luck, you can come across roe deer, and if you're unlucky - boar π.
I'm sure that each of us has a favorite place to come whenever you have no idea for a more extended trip.
